No. Curry DNP two days during the chase for 3rd seed and the team lost to the Hawks and the Heat.

He’s a very good player but I don’t think he has the impact of a MVP during regular season.

Part of being an MVP level player is health and he fails there. Part of being an MVP level player is reliability and he fails there too as he's forced his way off multiple clubs.

Wow, you trade for a 35yo often-injured players - what do you expect?
I'm wishing him a speedy recovery, don't get me wrong, but the last time he played 65+ games was in 2018-19, and it was exactly 65 games.
I mean, it sucks for Warriors and for Butler personally, but it's not like he's some young superstar you build around for years to come - part of the reasons he arrived almost for free was his age/health.

Yeah, cause his last injury was cause he is old. Or injury prone. :banghead:

The Warriors finished the regular season 23-7 with Butler.

The Heat were the 1st seed in 2022 and Butler was 7th in BPM and 6th in WS/48.

He broke a Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls record season record for most points in a 2nd half with 40.

Butler is, especially considering he isn't a dominant athlete. He uses smarts and skill to really max out what he can do. Very impressive overall.
Rest in peace Kobe & Gianna

Not directly, but if you already have number of lugging injuries, the chances to suffer a serious injury from the same contact are higher.
If you redo the same situation 100 times, Butler will suffer the same injury 50+ times. A younger/less injury-prone player will hit the injury list 10-20-30 times.
And it doesn't have to be the same lugging injury. If I have weak knees/muscles around, I have higher chances to obtain an ankle injury as well, as more pressure will be put on the ankles and less of it will be put on knees.

For sure. He's amazing and one of the best playoff performers of his generation. He's just a real pain in the ass when he gets grumpy.

Yeah it was sad to see. Supremely lack of aggression and will to impose himself in 4 of the 5 games in series. I feared Kuminga more in this series.

He was with the Heat when they signed him until the end of the 23 season (sadly hurt his ankle in the playoffs and had not much left after dragging them to the playoffs and finals).

Heat not extending him was a great call, handled the whole thing poorly though, but he's still Allstar level impact, just not MVP level anymore.

We learned this post-season that it's over for Playoff Jimmy. He's out to pasture. The guy remaining is a great second banana, and a perfect compliment to Steph, but he's no longer a major impact player when on his own.

Maybe Jimmy needed Heat culture a bit more than people thought.

The likelier explanation is that he got old. How many wings can dominate consistently in the playoffs at age 35? LeBron, Mike ... OK that's about it. Even KD fails that test.

No "Playoff Jimmy" was always a made up narrative that people clung to despite facts and reason.

He was straight ass with the Wolves against the Rockets in the playoffs, yet everyone talked **** about KAT being soft and when Butler threw his tantrum and cried "You can't win without me" everyone took his side.

The bubble is the "Mickey Mouse" championship, i.e. not a valid title when talking about the Lakers/Lebron but everyone gargles Jimmy's balls for "carrying a bunch of scrubs" to the finals while babbling on about hEaT cUlTuRe.

Jimmy is old. It was a dumb idea to lose a draft pick and commit 60 million a year to him for the next two seasons. I said as much at the time.

I would have much preferred trading Steph/Dray/Wiggs for crappy players on short deals with a few draft picks coming in, to accelerate a rebuild.
