There was never a problem before when there were nba playoffs and nba finals logos on the court many years ago. They even have entirely different court designs now to match alternate jerseys or the in season tournament.

Just seems like they wanted to be cheap and stopped doing it for the finals. Maybe haven't figured out how to monetize it.

If they cared about players safety they’d move the camera men from the baseline

Those decals absolutely affected player performance in the finals. Why they did that in the first place is a mystery to me. The size of those decals go bigger and bigger up until 2010 ish as seen in the op. It's awful.

NBA so busy selling ad space they don't have room to promote their own product

This is just NBA CYA attempt

Meh, if it's 1% more slippery eff that.

Did someone just make this issue up? why?

Player safety > your vibes.

Then why isn't every single foul an automatic ejection? To enhance player safety.
Why isn't diving for loose balls illegal?

Clearly, there's a cut-off for "player safety" vs "vibes"

Ummm...I hope you don't think this is logical. I really do.

We call it rhetorical questions for the sake of illuminating a flawed argument.

The poster was suggesting that player safety was the end-all for the NBA and I provided ridiculous examples of things the NBA could do if they truly valued player safety above all else.

Perhaps you're on the spectrum? If so, that's totally fine, I'll PM you a greentexted version of my posts with explanations.

Or less slippery, depending on the type of overlaminate they use on the printed vinyl. Players need predictability when it comes to their traction on the floor. I suspect this happened because players were complaining.

Painting it in and clear coating over top, to match the rest of the court's surface, is the proper way to do this - it just costs a whole lot more and is more difficult to reverse back.

You know if they had wanted to they could have CGI'd a decal on the floor just like they CGI the clock at the free throw line. hell, they could cgi the decal anywhere they want

howz about an old fashioned banner at the scorers table.

75 ads all over the floor, but this would be dangerous.
