They have been deserving favorites but even with the 68 wins and the historic point differential I do not rank them among the top 10 teams I’ve seen in my life (been watching since 88). They’ve now been pushed to 7 by a couple of good but flawed teams. I do not think this OKC team beats last years celts, the 23 nuggets (damn near lost to the 25 nuggets) the 22 warriors, the 21 bucks, the 20 lakers. I think this years champ will be the weakest this decade thus far. Ring still counts the same but I just see this as a down year league wide
Tbh, i think last year’s Mavericks were better, too.
OKC is a great team but this is one case where the eye test doesn’t matchup with the numbers telling you this is one of the greatest 10 teams we’ve ever seen. I had 0 confidence in their team to make a comeback once they were down 12+. They aren’t that great of an offensive team to string together a big comeback like that. Outside of Shai, their defense is their best offense but if you aren’t succumbing to their aggressive defense and turning the ball over, you have a real chance. Especially late in the game when OKC offense turns into all out ISO ball.
