oh look, a farm system helping a larger market. You don't see that every day in the NBA. Zero justification for trading for an aging, washed Jrue with 3 years remaining on his deal. This is just so laughable. Celtics get under the 2nd apron and out from under the final two awful years on the Jrue contract. AND they get draft picks!! ha ha ha

C’s dumped a contract before it got really bad lol surprised by the return. No pick attached? I assume Portland will flip him but who knows they want a great vet for their up and coming team.

holiday is old and has taken steps back offensively back to back years, but he is still miles better defensively then simons...hes gonna be a solid younger 3rd option on offensive but needs to be hidden on d

No risk of re-signing Simons.

True but at the cost of 3 years and $100+ million for Jrue

Yeah.

Not loving that.

Didn’t Jrue threaten retirement over a trade to POR?

Simons is incredibly bad on defense.

Career -2.1 DBPM. Career DRTG of 120.

For comparison Jordan Poole is a career -1.5 and 117.

Only thing I can see is a mentor for Scoot.

$32m / 3 for a 35 year old mentor is steep.

Sure **** is… yeesh.

Portland isn’t a FA destination, so w/e about their cap. No young guys deserving of big money really either in the next 3 years really. Unclear if they’ll keep Sharpe or Scoot. Deni is locked into a cheap deal… but they already have a bad contract in Grant… maybe resigning Ayton?.. but could let him walk.

Just kind of more of the same with the Blazers under Cronin. Still waiting for a coherent direction on what he’s building here…

So Boston got younger, saved money and received picks...

Taking into account the PDX FO delusion of being a competitive team I doubt they ever really thought about moving Simons for a late FRP.

So if the choice is resigning Simons to a likely 3-4 year deal at 25-30M AV or doing this trade for Holiday - and I think that’s a reasonable assumption given the FOs insane outlook at winning now - given that choice I am glad we made this trade.

I honestly feel the nba should investigate this trade. Sending Jrue to Boston the first time didn’t make much sense but was acceptable. Now they take him back but way older and more washed for a player with all star potential who is like 24-25 years old? Makes absolutely no sense and comes off as tampering.

What is Portland's plan?

Feels like they're spinning their wheels

The more I think about it I think he will be flipped somewhere else. Holiday will want to play on a contender, the question is who has space for him?

He’s made some good deals, but then he’s made some trades like he’s just throwing a dart at a wall blindfolded. This would be one of those.

Quick question didn't you say Simons would not be traded and Portland was loyal to it's players?

Simons does not have all star potential in any league outside China.
