Selling high on an older guard coming off a career year when they have plenty of guard depth.

Thats selling high? What would be selling low then? They got John Collins...

This is pretty brutal for the Clippers I think, but Miami probably saw Jakučionis' summer league ''highlights'' and all of sudden figured they need another guard.

Yeah I agree with this. Clippers could end up being the winners here getting Beal and Collins for Powell would be a clear win for them.

Thats exactly why I think the Clippers forced this trade and even gave up the 2nd rounder. They know theyre getting Beal and are making room while upgrading their roster overall.

Losing Norm Powell is a small price to pay for improving the frontcourt to this degree. Now Kawhi and Derrick Jones can just exclusively play on the wing and Batum can play the bench stretch 4.

Ainge held onto these vets so long, he got nothing for them.

They’re sorta like Indy of the west. Just know how to keep stacking a bunch of really good, high quality players. Unfortunately for them, and unlike Indy, they seem to get most of them on the older side.

Ainge. Honestly, dude has flubbed just about everything since he got to Utah. At least he’s going full tank for this super talented draft class. Godspeed Lauri…gonna be a real tough year, dude.

Improving. There's a reason Norm Powell couldn't get minutes on the 19 Raptors. Selfish ballhog with no skills outside shooting and dribbling.

Watching him on the Clippers with their crowded spacing was brutal at times. John Collins is better on both endsand fits perfectly with Harden.

Clippers rotation as of now:

Bigs: Zubac, Collins, B. Lopez, Batum, Niederhauser (rookie)
Wings: Kawhi, DJJ, Kobe Brown, Jordan Miller, Cam Christie
Guards: James Harden, Kris Dunn, Bogdanovic

So the weakness right now is at guard. I think they get Chris Paul and maybe bring back Amir Coffey. Either way, there are so many stop-gap guard options if they want them.

Clippers still look viable to get a top 4 seed with this re-constructed roster. Best HCA in the league as well now, next to Denver.

Guards who aren't elite offensive creators and can't defend aren't valuable. That's just clear as day right now. Accept it and move on

Clips got nothing for Powell but I guess they figure Collins+Beal > Powell.

Norm had a near all star type season for the Clips. Goes to show how the value isn't there for this type of player under this new CBA.

A great trade. They have a big log jam of guards and are likely front runners for Beal. They have been wanting Collins for a couple years now. A 20/10 ish young PF with outstanding athleticism that can allow Kawhi to shift out of PF. Kawhi doesn’t like playing PF. Powell is a great person and good player but he’s peaked, will be 32, and has diminished returns on this roster especially if they pursue Beal.

Norm fell off extremely fast post injury impact wise. He’s the prototypical fizz out in the playoffs archetype guard. They get a 20/10 caliber starting PF and spare Kawhi’s body a bit. Win win trade

I believe the Jazz paid two 2nd's for Collins 2 years ago and basically ended up with only one 2nd in this deal.

The new CBA is also making it near impossible to take on these big contract rehab projects to flip for later value.

Miami fleeced. Utah saved money and loading up the tank. Beal can barely move so if this is the Clippers plan to replace him with Powell it’s such a downgrade. However they def upgraded their front court which has been lacking behind Zubac for years. I think everyone got what they wanted.

Miami- Really good player for nothing
Jazz- Tank
Clippers- Size

Feel like I like Collins more than most.

People talk about him like he’ll be out of the league in 12 months.

Lmao what? Are we talking about the same Norm?

Raptors fan chiming in, in 2019 Norm was exclusively used as a Danny Green's back up. He was a main part of the rotation, and excelled in his role (defending + shooting 3's), there's a reason why he played every game.

When Kawhi left he was thrusted into a bigger role, and in his final 2 season he had a TS of 62.4%, and 64.5% with the Raps. He functioned mostly as an off ball scorer, playing within the flow of the offense.

Most Raptors fans agree trading Norm was a big time fumble by our franchise. Im not sure how he was with the Clippers, but he was far from a ball hog here in Toronto, we love & miss him.

What does this really do for any of the teams??? Powell will produce but does this really move the needle at all for the heat? Is it a 1 year rental? Are they really gonna pay a 33 year old Powell 30 mill a year after this? Collins is solid depth for the clippers but again is he really a needle mover? And also he is a 1 year rental are they gonna pay him?

The jazz I can see why they did it. They are gonna be bad and those contracts don't really matter much now.

A bit odd
