he's totally changed his game. he's dropped his 3pt apg and has become a dominant inside player. he's strong - i dont see anyone bumping him off balance.

it's not like this is out of the blue either. he's a very scrutinized player who has been methodical about fixing his game - so there have been expectations to be met, not just some shmoe becoming average to good

wemby has gone from great to GREAT. tell me that ain't harder :D :D :D

Eh, this award is typically for guys who have had a big season and establish themselves as a known commodity. While Victor does look noticeably better, he was generally already considered a top 5-10 player last season and was a lock for DPOY and 1st team all NBA until the blood clot. It would take some eye popping video game stats and a couple quad doubles for him to win MIP when he already looks like an MVP candidate and we all know he is going to win DPOY is he plays 65 games

Right now Ajay Mitchell looks like the MIP, imo

Genuinely surprised no one has yet to mention Austin Reaves. Not my fave player, but he's definitely picking up his game in the absence of both Doncic and James.

He's coming off a 20/4.5/6 season.

We're 5 games in and he's had two big scoring performances. Once he settles down, it'll be hard to really sell him as MIP unless he really keeps going bonkers. The deviation he'd need from last season to merit that kind of recognition would be pretty large.

Fair enough. I don't follow him or the Lakers that closely, so his last season stats didn't immediate jump to mind.

Valid.

He may well have the opportunity this year, but he's smoking it at like 34/11 right now and we all know that isn't going to last. If, for whatever wild reason, it did, then obviously he'd have a pretty leading case as MIP. But history and stats suggest it's just the impact of two immense games. He rocked 51 and 41 points in consecutive games, then had a 28 PTS 16 AST game right after. He's crushing it in box score stats right now, but it's quite early.

He'd be a nice fantasy pickup if I played one.

Yes, he's a solid fantasy choice.
