Then he can do that next time the Lakers' G-League team comes to SLC.

The real decision the Jazz FO is making is between Continuity, Cap Flexibility, and Cash Considerations.

Like others have mentioned we were going to tank this year with or without Walker so the end result of our season really doesn't matter with this news. Sucks for him though as he was looking great these first few games and small sample size, but shooting the 3 well also.

I honestly don't think this hurts his contract situation all that much either. The Jazz obviously had already chosen to roll the dice next Summer hoping that we could match a RFA offer that's less than the max. I still think even with this injury that one of the other 29 teams will still take a shot at landing him with a max deal and the Jazz will ultimately match (ala Hayward). I'd be very surprised if he wasn't on the roster to start next season.

I know all it takes is one team, but when I look around the league...who would offer him a max deal?

The Bulls might have cap space and could offer him something, but a max deal would be foolish IMO.

Is this a bad time to bring up my fantasy team?

Such disappointing news to say the least. I hope he has a smooth recovery.

Good thing you've got Ayton and Hayes!

A max deal for Walker Kessler would be malpractice lol

I was never in the 'trade Kessler' camp. Don't see the point. Would much rather keep him unless a ridiculous trade package is offered or if another team makes him a ridiculous offer in restricted free agency.

A max deal for Walker could certainly be foolish, but someone of his skillset getting a max deal isn't crazy in the 2025 NBA landscape. It's just the way things are with fringe level all stars making max money. When Hayward was up for his extension after his rookie deal we didn't think he was worth the max. Dude just came off a season shooting 40% from the field and 30% from three on a team that won 25 games. Charlotte offers him a max deal anyway which we match so someone of that caliber got TWO teams willing to give him a max contract. I expect the situation with Walker will be very similar this Summer and he'll still be with the Jazz next season on a max deal (for better or worse).

Sad for the big guy, will be lowballed by Ainge and probably be "forced" to take his QO.

I've had this surgery twice and my shoulder has never been quite the same. Wish him better luck than I had

F*c*! He's my favorite C to watch play since I don't consider Wemby a C although he is.

Maybe Jazz go for James Wiseman now unless he's already signed somewhere
