What's weird is he turned his ankle then proceeded to favor the opposite foot. Had to rewatch a few times to make sure I was seeing it properly. I still may have seen it wrong though?

The level of physicality the refs are allowing actually benefits the Pistons. They just need to drop the theatrics, because that only invites the refs to dial the physicality back.
