Think about this. The answer to this is someone who's good but not very athletic.
Kobe Bryant is your man.
I'm not saying he's unathletic or weak or anything I'm just saying that Lebron, Wade, Melo, Carter, Jordan, Wilkens, Dr. J and all those guys were born with alot more than Kobe. And Kobe manages to be better than all of them except Jordan. That tells you something.
Kobe is probably 6' 5''. Doesn't have a very big frame. He can jump but nothing special. He's quick I'll give him that. He's naturally skinny (doesn't have alot of muscle like Lebron). And has small hands.
Tex and Phil even said he works harder than MJ did.

All-time, I couldn't name anyone with better work ethic than Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. His workout and yoga regimens were the reason (at his height!) he was able to avoid injury and play for almost 2 decades. He worked on his skyhook enough times to make it ambidextrous. Truly a man who thought seriously about conditioning and developed his own systematic methods of staying game-ready.

As far as his 43 % goes he had a groin injury, shoulder, Hand and couple others and he toughed it and tried to contribute with his presence on the Laker team ... not to mention like someone mentioned this last off-season he focused strictly on Defense ... His offense comes and goes but if they need him to score ... believe me he will team game working this year better for him though
Because I am a Kobe fan, I don't want to critisize him, but for the past 5 years, Kobe hasn't shot a better fg% then his team average.

Except when he asked Carlisle for a couple months off during the season so he could work on his rap album?
I would still pay hard money to have seen Carlisle's face at that moment.

Dennis Rodman was known for having a crazy work ethic. I think his partying overshadowed how hard this guy hit the gym. He would ride a bike while watching game tapes, go to the gym right after games for about 2 hrs. Would show up at all times of the nite or day. Even hung over the guy would still show up at the gym. Physically he was avg 14+ rpg during his last run with the Mavs at what 40 years old?

More on Mullin. While at St. John's, they had to give him a key to the gym, because he was routinely there shooting by himself until 2 or 3 in the AM if he went home at all. At one point the college campus was hit with a blizzard that shut everything up for 2 days, and when they got the gym dug out and opened up, they found Mullin in there, shooting, where he had been for the whole time.
Seriously, the guy was insane.

Nowitzki is working pretty hard as well, going through a pretty bizarre but really tough private workout regime with his mentor/coach every summer. Other players who participated for stretches were just raving about the demands he commits himself to during those stretches.

Ide say Kobe is the top of the list. Seen some of his workout routines, and it's insane.
Heard Nash, and Nowitzki really developed hard workouts when they were playing together in Dallas. Nash isn't the most physically gifted player in the league, so to be the best PG speaks a lot about how hard he must work. Not like Nash, or Nowitzki were that good at the start of their career.
In a sports illustrated article I was reading Nash had to do a workout, and his buddies coaxed him into going out drinking. He said he'd only go drinking if they had 1 drink at each bar, and ran between bars because he needed to workout. Think it said he ended up running 10 miles that night or something stupid from bar to bar. Even when he goes boozin he's working out, haha.

Edit-for all time, imo, it's neither Jordan nor Bird nor any of the ones mentioned.
It's Chris Mullin. That guy's work ethic was INSANE.
+1
Mullin's work ethic is GOAT.
Bird, West, MJ and Kobe are "just" gym rats. Mullin was a recovering alcoholic -- he moved his addiction to alcohol towards an addiction to workout. Mullin literally could not NOT work out.
