Played several times with 2003 NBA second round draft pick Jerome Beasley. When not playing for his professional teams, usually comes back to my home town of Grand Forks, ND and plays at the old univeristy gym (he actually broke the backboard at the new wellness center). Beasley has roots to the area as he played for the University of North Dakota. Usually just trots up and down launching three's but one time he actually tried and it was amazing. Can't imagine what it would be like to play with or against an actual NBA player. As for Beasley, he is currently playing in Israel or something. Anyways, what a life playing basketball for money.

I wasn't on the team then, but my junior or senior year in high school, our team had to play in a sectional with Josh McRoberts' Carmel team, Oden and Conley from Lawrence Central, and Eric Gordon's North Central team.
That's one helluva crappy sectional. It was pretty cool seeing a couple top caliber coaches in the stands though for the games.

I guarded Raef LaFrentz for about half a game at a summer camp right before his senior year in HS. Played with a few other minor talents (considerably better than me btw).
Best player I ever ran with was Jeff Hornacek about the time he first joined the Jazz. He was already old and looked piddly in league games but he played a few times at a rec court at Iowa State (where he went to school) and he was unstoppable. He could drive on anyone guarding him and people would think they were up tight enough when he crossed half court but he would drop jumpers from anywhere like he was playing HORSE with himself.

Man I've had a lot of expierence just only one good outing(actually it was half a good outing).
I played against Kendrick Perkins and Lawrence Roberts in HS. Perkins forced me into a turnover filled night as his presence was seen in the lane from a mile(or nine) away. Roberts fouled the **** outta me when I tried to dunk on him. Next time out, I sorta dunked on him, i was leaning to side but still over him.
Then I played against Cassell, Stoudamire, Mobley, Van Exel, and Damon Jones at the Fonde or even at the Westside Tennis Club in Houston. No real good thing happened there besides that being able to guard Damon quite easily, stole the ball from him a bit. my most embarassing has got to be guarding van exel and cassell, and Mobley literally turning around and dunking on me in one motion.
I took a charge on Damon Stoudamire, but no one calls charges in pick up games...so..yeah no point in that.

I used to push Josh Childress around all the time at Enterprise park in Compton, CA. He is skinny now but he used to be super skinny if you can imagine in the 8th and 9th grade. Enterprise park is full of gangsters and is down the street from Centennial High School which is the school that Aaron Afflalo went to. When you play with the gangsters you can't be calling fouls because you might get shot if they get pissed off at you. When we used to play I used to push him and talk **** to him all game long. He used to practice with his uncle for hours running sprints back and forth in the gym and shooting 3's. He just kept getting better and better and taller and taller. He was still weak but he could shoot over people which made him hard to defend as he got older. I never got a chance to play with him when he went to Stanford but we talked about his draft status when he used to come back down to Los Angeles. Haven't talked to him since.

that's actually pretty cool
Yeah it was definately something I'll always remember..and Lamar is a pretty down to earth guy in person, classier than most people give him credit for, and man CAN HE BALL, it was crazy how good he was. Its one thing to see them play against other NBAers but to see them in person or have them play with you is something else, consider than Lamar at the time was playing at an all-star lever putting up 17/9 on the Heat..the guy was just nasty, I remember I wanted to impress him really bad and it kinda threw me off my game
, our first few possesions he threw me some beautiful passes in great positions to score but I f'ed them up but after a while he just took over. He was guarded by Todd Stronks who is as good a defensive stopper as any, this guy is about 6'6 210 and the cousin of former NBAer Leo Rautins, he played with Lamar at Rhode Island and he guarded Lamar as well as any non NBA player could and even frustrated him on a few occasions but Lamar just dominated, scoring at will, beating the constant double teams and just getting anything he wanted out there, but he definately wasn't sand-bagging it out there because Todd Stronks and Jeremy Nagy are pretty good in their own right having played NCAA Division 1 ball and all

In middle school my bball coach was Terrence O'Kelley. He played for the Lakers, Jazz, Globetrotters and some Euroleague. In high school my coach was David Vann. He played for the Warriors.
Even tho they were 40 or so, they still could dunk all over me or drain 40 ft three pointers.
