You mean the luxury of a guy (Shaq) who disappeared the entire series until it was time to celebrate? Hell, Zo was more effective in that series than Shaq. All this talk about Shaq commanding the double is irrelevant, because Dallas actually played him even. It was Wade who drew 2-3 guys every time he drove into the paint.

Offensively, Wade did everything in that series by himself.

Also, wow @ "I would love to see Wade play the Spurs instead." That's pretty irrelevant, because it didn't happen. You can't fault Wade for the Spurs losing to the softies from Dallas. The point is, he put together one of the greatest individual performances in the Finals where it mattered the most, and LeBron failed to even put up an AVERAGE performance. Dallas or San Antonio, I could never see Wade shooting under 40% in a 4-7 game span. Never.

IMO, LeBron needs to have continued post-season success to get #1, over say Duncan.

Though by natural progression he will get it, because Duncan isn't getting any younger....

Why start this thing again just because of one game?

Figured you'd reply with a youtube video instead of an actual valid discussion.

Who doesn't travel? This is the NBA.

Traveling in the NBA is like holding in the NFL. It happens every damn possession.

& FYI, that video holds no ground because it doesn't dispute a ring.

Shaq was the driving force behind those titles. Kobe had his part, but you can't be said to be carrying the torch if you aren't the best player on your team.

And its not like LeBron had a better individual (If ur comparing them individually) game than Kobe. Cavs team d kept Kobe from receiving the ball under 2 minutes ish to go. And at the end Kobe could have easily shot that 3 but as his trust in his teammates has increased drastically this year, he instead passed it up to a wide open Puke Walton who was too much of a sissy to shoot it.

Methinks that you overstate your point. Walton was by no means wide open. When he got the ball LeBron was right there. No way could he have gotten the shot off uncontested. Pretty remarkable when you consider that it was LeBron that was double teaming Kobe and switched off the prevent Walton from taking an unmollested shot.

If I were to rank the best players in the NBA, it would go:
#1 Lebron
#2 Kobe
#3 Wade - Finals MVP, has LED his team to a championship, unlike the first two and for this I give him his due

The difference between #1 and #2 is small, the difference between #2 and #3 is large though.

What puzzles me the most with this thread is the argument that LeBron James is actually a "good" defender. Hell, some people even call him a "great" defender. That's laughable. The difference remains the same: both players are obviously ELITE offensive players, but Kobe is a great defender and a fantastic shooter, yet LeBron is an average at best defender and a somewhat horrific shooter 50% of the time.

Kobe > LeBron, and it's not as close as people make it out to be.

Duncan HAS to be there, somewhere.....

I basically said that the top 4 players in basketball (no order) are Kobe, LeBron, Duncan, and Wade. Somehow, some jealous LBJ fanboy tried to find an irrelevant way to turn this into a "Bash Wade" thread.

Lol how did i turn this into a Bash wade thread when i said LOL.

your the one who brung it into a wade vs lebron with your stupid ring subject

I just can't place LeBron or even Wade above Kobe.

Kobe Bryant is the complete package, IMO.

1. Kobe Bryant
2. Tim Duncan
3. Dwyane Wade
3. LeBron James
5. Kevin Garnett
(Chris Paul, IMO, really has a shot at being the "next")

That's how my "Top 5" would rank.

If LeBron won a title tomorrow, I'd easily place him ahead of Wade.

I just think that not having a title REALLY hinders a legacy. My example is very unbiased as a die hard Dolphins fan: Look at Dan Marino. Greatest numbers, zero titles. His legacy was somewhat thrashed because of the ladder.

Absolutely agree.

I think its rediculous for people to change their opinions over one game no matter what their opinions are. And its also rediculous for people to deny that LeBron is an amazing player.

See that's the problem. Wade fans come in on LeBron and Kobe threads, and turn it into Wade discussions. :nonono:

Unfortunate.
