they are definitely still a team that won't be ignored, but it's difficult to pick them to win a championship..
Yeah.
Plus Dirk. Who since improving as a player and being influenced by Avery after the 05 Suns series - Dirk's basically destroyed Phoenix. They lack the defenders and team defense (interior, specifically) to contain him over a playoff series, like other teams have in the past. The stand-out being the 50 and 12 game in G5 of the 2006 WCF.
Then, you have all the high-level guards, quick guards, and good role-playing big men, to play well against the Suns defense.

The addition of Gasol has surely changed the course of the West, by not only adding another true championship contender in LA, but also making the road to the finals for any western conference team that much more difficult.
The western conference playoffs will be absolutely INSANE this season.

I still don't trust Lakers absolutely beating Suns/Dallas.. even the Jazz in a 7 game series, nobody knows if the Pau thing will make them 20x better.. even though obviously it will help.
I pick Detroit.

From time to time, the Suns already make Kwame and Luke look like Hakeem and Sampson. No way they can do anything to stop Bynum and Gasol. Hell, they can't even stop Lamar from putting up 20/15. That's one team I''m not worried about AT ALL.
I still gotta go with Boston vs Spurs (assuming the get back healthy). Spurs take it for their first bakc to back. If the Spurs don't get it back rolling then Boston probably takes it over LAL.

NBA Finals: Lakers vs. Cavs
Lakers come out victorious.

Obama did not shut down the practice of torture, but merely repositioned it, to the American norm. The torture regime of Ford through Clinton, year by year, produced more US-backed strapped-down agony than was produced during the Bush/Cheney years.

Phoenix already had problems with the Lakers before Gasol, with Bynum. See the two games before the last game without Bynum. How are they going to beat them now with Gasol, with or without Bynum?
Rebounding? Lakers
Half-court offense? Lakers
Defense? Lakers
Coaching? Lakers
Depth? Lakers
Toughness? Lakers
Chemistry? Suns
Chemistry will be in development with Gasol. But, there's at least going to be something developed by the point of possibly facing the Suns in the playoffs. Being enough, to where the Lakers obvious advantages on Phoenix negates the chemistry advantage the Suns have.
The Lakers can run well selectively, too.

I don't even have the Pistons favored over Cleveland. Cleveland's the hottest team in the East right now, and almost swept the Pistons last year, a year where LeBron actually played pretty bad in the playoffs (compared to his season numbers and numbers from the year before).
Los Angeles over Cleveland in the NBA Finals.

Not going to knock the Cavs cause they deserved to win, but almost swept? They could have just as easily been down 0-3 in that series considering the first four games. Lebron not playing well? Guess it must have been some other superstar to put up a historic game during game 5.Buckeye-NBAFan wrote:-= original quote snipped =-

LeBron went:
Game 1: 5-15
Game 2: 7-19
Game 4: 8-19
Game 6: 3-11
He shoot pretty poorly in 4 of 6 games and for the series. His shooting percentage for last year's playoffs was a full 6% lower than the year before.
No doubt all those games were close, but what I meant was, the Cavs led for most of the first two games. They really controlled those games more than the Pistons did.
