Because he jumped off of 2 feet. Everyone else gets a running start and then jump off of one foot from that sort of distance. That combined with how high he got was amazing. Not to mention it's a 6'11 270 pound guy doing it. Unheard of.

What made it so special is we've never seen a guy his size fly that high, with that much of extension, it was disturbing to many viewrs and ridiculous. He added the superman costume which made it even better cuz it look so much sicker. I always liked dwight i can't wait until we see him in purple and gold.

People on the internet will bitch and moan about anything. It looked like he thew it in on purpose, regardless who cares his hand touching the rim was the least important part about the play.

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Green's birthday cake dunk was a 50.
To me that was the second best dunk of the night next to Dwight's first dunk from behind the rim.
Dwight's superman thingymabob was impressive, but I can't in good conscience call that a dunk.
Yes he propelled the ball through the rim blah blah blah, but to me, in order for it to really be a dunk your hand has to be in the vicinity of the cylinder in some regard.
By the definition being accepted here, as long as the release of the ball if above the rim, and the trajectory is downward, that makes it a dunk?
Those criterion could concievably be met from the other side of the basketball court.
Even though, I don't think it was a dunk personally, I still think it was very impressive.
