Next season was the deadline he quit before even trying free agency. It also makes the Lakers look unstable with a broken front office

This is why I don't want the media to let him off the hook if the Lakers sign no big name free agents. They better roast him. He quit before facing the music.

Don’t see any major appeal in taking this job right now. You either have to bring in a whole new GM and hope he can connect with the direction of Lebron and building or keep Rob a GM reports say teams hate.

Then you have the young players do you still go after AD?
Ingram after next season is going to need a payday to you sell high or pay him and eat cap space?

Honestly, Magic wasn’t nearly as bad as people said he was. People made way too much about this year’s team. magic didn’t hand out any long bad contracts. He signed the best player in the league. Reportedly he didn’t even want to draft Lonzo, he wanted Fox, but Jeanie overruled him (which given that report made her mad, makes it seem true). The Lakers continue to be a mess and I am fine with that.

The offseason hasn't even started, so how would he know that? Sure you could guess that some big names probably won't go there, but someone might.

Magic gave his reasons for leaving and I believe him. He wasn't having fun and wanted to do other things.

It's not confusion. He didn't even try to sign FA's this offseason. Yes things don't look good, but we don't know 100% where everyone will sign.

He gave up before he tried to do it.

Still a Laker for life. He gave it a shot then stepped away respectfully.

There's more going on here than Magic is letting on. Something must have happened in that meeting with LeBron.

This whole thing just made me realise something...Magic Johnson for all his on court Magic...is a coward. Plain and simple, He couldn't handle the stress or the tough times. He can say all the right things but actions speak louder than words..And all his actions are the ones of a coward. Funny how he put DLO under the bus for not being a leader. But as soon the going gets rough Magic bailed.

Magic has cemented himself as a top 2 Laker to have ever played in my book. But as a person this dude is a coward.

Magic comes off as not being the most stand up guy in all of this. I mean geez, so much **** I could bring up right here but I'm not going to just because I don't care enough to do that and start arguing with someone who'd prob want to defend him or somehow make it about LeBron. Magic basically wiggled his way into the job then wiggled out because it wasn't fun enough.

Why the "meeting" with LeBron & co and not the 3 hour long actual meeting he had with Jeanie Buss just the day before regarding the direction of the team?

I assume somebody posted this back there somewhere, in which case, my apologies. But it's just...unprofessional. Also truly Magic. He was never the serious guy. The first draft of Cyndi Lauper's hit song was probably titled "Magic Just Likes to Have Fun". And so he's left...to go back to having fun, and no responsibilities, and be beloved, and not have to say mean things to people or fire them or trade them or...

When someone is that type of person they should never be thrust into that position of power in the first place. He is a cheerleader, not a steely-eyed decisionmaker.
