I hope Cuomo stays healthy through this. He's been one of the most, if not the most effective leaders.

Pretty stark contrast between him and deblasio

Yeah as a NYer who was not a big Cuomo fan, I am really impressed with his leadership right now.

Went to Target this morning. Hardly any cars on the road (I went at what would normally be morning rush hour time) and hardly any customers. It's like a ghost town around here.

Any of you Floridians decide to go to the beach and get sick GOOD.

Natural selection.

Agreed but as a Floridian, I bet most/a lot of those people are tourists from other states/countries on their planned spring break.

I don't think De Blasio even spends a lot of time in NY. It's like he's always campaigning for something

I really wish there was more consensus on this. My personal thoughts are to let the fever run it's course and do it's job.

Problem is they're not from Florida, they're all spring breakers who are about to go back home and spread it there. I've been worried that cases will spike soon because of spring break travel. Even though some people chose to stay home, a lot of people still decided to go on trips.

That's not totally true. Some of the of from the state of Florida, the only thing we know for sure is they are all idiots.

What? If we end up with Millions of sick people at once we don't have the infrastructure to help them and many more will die as a result. Slowing the spread will save many more lives.

I'm sure over 90% are from other states. The governor should've had the foresight to close them

Some are Floridians, some are from out of state, for example college spring breakers. Either way, you can't do things half way. You can't close the schools, shut down business but still leave beaches open, its counterproductive.

You misunderstood him.

What he means is what to do once you have symptoms. Should you treat them with ibuprofen or paracetamol?

He is suggesting he will just let his system fight it out. Which I tend to agree. If we have mild symptoms, we don't have to be scared. We would never be scared if we had flu like symptons. The biggest scare is spreading it to those who are more susceptible to require intensive care.

Reasonswhy chrismikayla suggests he won't take anything to fight the fever,

There is at least a theoretical danger the fever-reducers — including acetaminophen — may have a similar effect in patients ill with the coronavirus. Although there is no research yet, “my personal gut feeling,” Dr. Levin said, is that it might be reasonable for a person infected with the coronavirus to avoid both kinds of painkillers.

A drug like acetaminophen or ibuprofen can bring a fever down, but you don’t want to keep taking it constantly, said Dr. Marguerite Neill, an infectious disease expert at Brown University. Let the fever do its job.

“A single dose of an Nsaid when the temperature is 103 or 104 in an adult who has the flu — I’m not saying that’s wrong,” Dr. Neill said. “But don’t keep pumping it in if the fever is lower.”

She quoted an 18th-century English physician, Dr. Thomas Sydenham: “Fever is nature’s engine which she brings to the battlefield to vanquish her enemies.”

We played basketball every Friday- Sunday. I haven't seen him in a couple weeks as he is self quarantining himself. I'm starting to feel symptoms, and the first one was a shortness of breath and I'm starting to get a dry throat.

I want to get medical attention, but the hospitals are so packed where I reside and the local health hotline is just busy until no end (waited 4 hours until I finally gave up).

All I can really so is self quarantine and just pray right now my body can fight this off, if in fact I am infected.

Sure self-quarantine (and wear a mask if you have one), but you can do more to help get better faster.

WebMD has:

"A coronavirus is a type of common virus that can infect your nose, sinuses, or upper throat. You treat a coronavirus infection the same way you treat a cold:

A humidifier or steamy shower can also help ease a sore and scratchy throat.

Get plenty of rest.
Drink fluids.
Take over-the-counter medicine for sore throat and fever (but don't give aspirin to children or teens younger than 19; use ibuprofen or acetaminophen instead)."

https://www.webmd.com/lung/qa/how-is-a-coronavirus-infection-treated

If you're in the danger age, then you have to contact somebody. I think what the medical people can do is test you to make sure you have it and then treat you if you are in the danger age or give you priority if symptoms get worse. I'm not sure about the last part.

Apparently Ibuprofen is bad and makes it worse. They say don't take anti-inflammatory meds, instead go for tylenol. Google that and look into it if you want the full information.

I am shocked that even in Canada you have to wait so long to have someone answer you. It highlights how everyone is on red alert.

I am sure I'd feel differently if I felt ill, but honestly, assuming you're young enough and dealing with mild symptoms, you don't have to worry too much.

There are many who fight the claim that ibuprofen worsens things.

The biggest concern is not to infect others, particularly those close to you of older age. So make sure of that.

I'd also write down the people who I have been in contact recently. Contact them. Contact my family doctor/national health lines until you finally get through.

Have someone bring you the basic meds you may want to take, like tylenol if you really feel you need to. Keep us posted XTC.

Dirk you don't want to take Ibuprofen. People that are doing that are reporting aggravated symptoms with COVID. A report last week also said this may be the case.

Did you read the link? The recommendation has nothing to do with letting the fever run its course, and everything to do with ibuprofen potentially making the infection worse. You can still take paracetamol for the fever.
