Nets aren’t winning anything. This has disaster written all over it.

nop. Its a shortened season so depth isnt an issue. Easy championship imo

No chance. Dysfunctional group, no depth and zero defense.

Dumbest trade I’ve ever seen. Nets have screwed themselves for a decade. Worse than the Boston trade they made.

KD just got comparative talent to his Warriors days. An MVP in Harden and All-Star/Champion in Kyrie who’s in his prime.

I’m hoping the Laker’s can make it out of the west to see Lebron have another opportunity to face a stacked KD super team. I actually think he’s excited about this and it will be a legacy move.

If I’m the nets, I flip Harden for Ben Simmons. He’d be a much better fit and a long term asset for them. Kyrie and Harden are so redundant.

Also, at this stage I would’ve traded Kyrie for him to buy the Rockets probably would be hesitant cuz he’s MIA

As a Cavs fan, can't say how pumped I am about this. A couple of weeks ago in the Harden thread involving a third team I posted that I thought the Cavs could be a good facilitator.

My scenario had the Cavs giving up Drummond (and his expiring which would help Houston get under the cap) and eating Gordon's contract to land Allen ... and I would've been happy with that.

Instead, they still get Allen and only give up Exum/late first. That's robbery, especially since they will undoubtedly flip Drummond now and recoup what they gave up for Allen.

And yes, the Cavs aren't a FA destination, but they have now assembled a great young core: Sexton, Garland, Porter Jr., Okoro and Allen. They will have a lottery pick in this year's deep draft and will get something back for Drummond. Plus, Dan Gilbert literally has enough money to buy pretty much every NBA team, collectively, if he wanted, so I don't think he'll sweat any future luxury taxes if this group develops together.

Imagine saying trading Allen and Levert and First Rounders for **** James Harden in his prime is the dumbest trade of all time?

3 BKN first-rounders (22, 24, 26), 1 MIL first (22, unprotected), 4 BKN 1st round swaps (21, 23, 25, 27)

21: BKN swap
22: BKN, MIL
23: BKN swap
24: BKN
25: BKN swap
26: BKN
27: BKN swap

Harden traded for 4 unprotected and 4 swaps.

Pretty bad trade for next 2-3 years, though those picks from 24 to 27 potentially gold. Saves Tilman Fertitta a lot of money though.

Getting someone like Simmons is better for near term basketball, but the long term return (rumored 3 picks) is likely worse than the Nets ones.

This will be worse than the Boston trade. The team welcomes dysfunction.

Looking at it from a Laker perspective, I would love for the Nets running long stretches with Durant at Center, because Davis would have a field day.

Just Levert, Allen, Prince and some picks?

Lakers/Clippers basically gave up the same amount of picks to get Davis/George.

Its not the perfect fit, but you just have to stagger Kyrie and Harden's minutes.

For defense you can start Bruce Brown.

I can't believe Houston couldn't find a way to get Simmons in the deal.

The biggest question is Center. Jordan has to be better or maybe you start Green there instead.

Kyrie
Brown
Harden
KD
Jordan

Closing lineup you put in Green at the 5.

Also Nets can just sign a decent starting Center if they feel like Jordan is that bad. They still have a 5 million dollar exception I believe.

Center is the easiest position to fill. Warriors were starting freaking Zaza and the Lakers got away with Dwight lol.

"some picks"

Didn't the Lakers and Clippers just give up a similar haul of picks?

What are the chances any of those picks become even half as good as Harden?

If they win a title its worth it.

Yeah Clippers did, Lakers did too but not as many. It was just a funny phrase.

In terms of this trade it makes Nets better but I can see why some Nets fans want to vomit. Clippers and Lakers had strong assurances that the players they traded for would re-sign long term. That makes the picks less valuable.

This feels more risky for the Nets. Between player injury or unpredictability, you will be in for a scary ride the next couple of years.

Doesn't depth matter more in a shortened season? They are the East favourites (probably, lets see how the defense holds up) but they are still behind the Lakers and Clippers imo, there is only one ball after all

Ok, what did KD do this time? I understand why people don't like KD but this situations seems to be all on Harden.

I actually can't think of anyone better than Durant to make life difficult for Davis and on the other hand Davis stands little chance against KD with the ball in his hands up top

7 years of expecting guys to stay, not get hurt, and then simply aging or asking out is a long time. Rockets are getting a great return here, it just will take a lot of time.

Not sure why everyone is saying the Rockets got hosed.
