Nets get back Brodgon/Turner.

Is that enough to compete in the East?

Simmons
Brodgon
Harris
KD
Turner

If everyone is healthy and Simmons can be a high caliber player it can be a contending team. But it would require a perfect storm. If Kyrie leaves BK is probably better off blowing it up and hoping that they can get a high pick this year while the Rockets are still likely to be terrible.

Nets can't get a high pick because the Rockets have pick swaps!

The Rockets are going to be bad again this year. They traded away their leading scorer in Wood and brought in 3 more rookies. The Rockets will likely be picking in the top 7 again in the 23 draft. So even if the Nets have to swap with the Rockets they likely get a top 7 pick in return.

Kyrie signs with the Lakers for the MLE, the next lockout will be epic. The owners will have some ammo.

They can.

That would save them 36m this season. If the gave away THT, that's 46m.

They could just keep Westbrook but I think Kyrie is still way better.

Insane.

Like I said Lakers are going to get Irving for nothing.

This is why the NBA sucks sometimes. I honestly can't wait for LeBron to retire

First, I doubt this happens. The amount of money he's turning down is absurd. The opportunity cost risk here is enormous. He's a jersey kid too who has never lived west of the mississippi.

Second, Why does this it you that players like LA so much? Seriously. guess what NBA players like living and playing in LA. that won't change after Lebron retires. It existed long before Lebron. LA is an amazing place to live in general. If you are super rich, young and famous it is probably the best place in the world. Only NYC of nba cities can hold a candle.

Given that reality LA will always have a significant advantage over non-NYC clubs.

Irving taking the MLE screws the balance of the west and it just figures that's the way it would work. It's the lowest most selfish choice of all. Just go where someone else can win for him and completely screws his friend.

It would also mean no other team wants him which I really doubt is true.

lol, why? He's a FA who's willing to lose 30 mill to not play for the Nets. There are some reasons the owners (and players) should be upset and look for changes in the next CBA, but why would the owners be upset about a FA's making a personal decision?

I'll be disappointed if Durant waants to leave Brooklyn.

Simmons is a great, multi-tooled, unselfish running mate, and Curry/Harris are great role players.

If Brooklyn were to acquire a long 3&D swingman (ie. Oubre or Reddish), they can be very, very good.

Just going to say, Durant looks foolish to me if he's blaming management for Kyrie. I understand loyalty to friends. All of us here have a friend who is flakey. But most of us are smart enough to recognize it. I can't conceive of being Kevin and thinking management needed to grow more to understand Kyrie.

Did you really just imply that Reddish would move the needle both in practical terms and in Durants mind? He lost Harden earlier this season... and now may be losing Kyrie. He has played with Westbrook, Harden, Steph, Klay, Draymond, Kyrie, etc... and you seriously expect him to be excited about Cam effing Reddish? Fans are out of their minds.

So you're saving $36 million this season, but you want to pay Westbrook around $9.5 million in dead money for the next 5 years?

Well Kyrie’s only burned 3 bridges so far. That leaves 27 other bridges to play hot potato with a lighter on while wearing gasoline soaked shoes.

In Durant's mind, no.

In practical terms, yes.

He fits the prototype of what a Simmons/Durant/Harris/Curry team would need -- a tall, long, athletic, defensive wing who can (theoretically) shoot and guard every position on the floor.
