You need to learn that having a discussion about something sometimes means talking about the whole situation and not just the parts that support what you are saying... Context and perspective are important things. I said many times Im not misdirecting because i agree with you on some of your points yet you choose to ignore that part of my post.

no sense in trying to have a discussion with someone who doesn't understand the basics of how a discussion works. Ill let you just threat this as your dumping ground for your opinion and lack of understanding how to have a civil conversation. Cheers.

Find me a post talking about all Raptors fans. You're just being obtuse and pretending people calling out "raptors fans" mean "every single last raptors fan" because it allows you to defend them.

I just had an entire conversation with someone who said Raptor fans were different than other fanbases.

They are? I mean they're quite literally different people. Different countries. Different cities. Do you just think all NBA fanbases are the same team to team?

How about this, because I don't want you to feel like I'm singling Raptor fans out...last night, Toronto's fanbase made a solid shift towards the hallowed ground that is currently occupied by Philadelphia and Boston fans in the realm of pro sports.

So 3 fanbases... it's almost like the problem is with humans... not certain geographical lines...

It's very much relevant and in context. Bashing the fans who are on these boards, that did not cheer and showed genuine concern, that's what I call irrelevant.

No one on here said "RealGM's Raptors fans are terrible people" and you'd be pressed to act like they did. If they did it was towards the end of the thread and probably after the concentrated effort of Raps fans (and non Raps fans that like defending **** people like yourself) attempting to misdirect the conversation. A thread that should be full of people talking about how terrible those fans are is now a thread of people saying they're horrible and people like you going for the gold in mental gymnastics.

So you think that all of Raptors and NYK fans here who together have more posts and members than all other combined, are any different than representation of the fans of these two teams in general population? They are not! Go to our board and you will find plenty of idiotic statements ALWAYS. But, thankfully we are not all the same and you cannot disregard statements like "Raptors fans are trash". In that context they are as trash as Knicks fans, or any other team's fans.

This is absurd. We're hardcore fans around here and not at all representative of the average fan. Seriously the Knicks board vs Knicks fans vs Knicks media wildly differ. While our fans were hating Phil the board didn't flip until well after he was fired for example.

Like I said, he is ignoring the dozens of posts all around his own because they don't support his argument.

I'm not ignoring anything...I can perfectly see the posts that show other fanbases engaging in what the Raps fans did last night: behaving like trash.

No one ever said that yall were the worst fanbase in sports. You're a few thrown Duracell batteries and racial slurs away from that area. But what your fanbase did last night was trash and not at all the norm with how fans conduct themselves around the country when players get hurt. Posting a few youtube videos won't change what happened last night.

It was truly amazing. By the end of that cheer, in one fell swoop Durant regained his dignity in the public eye. He is once again a sympathetic figure. It's a damn shame this is what it took.

Humans are the same. Mob mentality is the same.

So you think players at the FT line would be getting called a n***** in Atlanta? They get called that in Utah and all humans are the same right? Or are you going to acknowledge that people from different places in different countries might act different from each other?

Like just looking at the existence of soccer hooligans (something we don't have in any capacity in the US) or how some cities down burn down when they win championships will show you fandom can show itself in wildly different ways. In Toronto specifically it shows itself sometimes in cheering on career altering injuries. No one said other fanbases don't suck also, or don't suck more, just that this one in particular sucks. Don't "all teams" this, all teams don't cheer for injuries.

Overall the Raptors fans are great. Every fanbase has bad fans/moments.

Raptors fans, as a Warrior fan I can tell you that this is just part of being a fan of a successful team. Every good/bad moment is jumped on and scrutinized. Sometimes rightfully so, sometimes not. Just comes with the territory. Congratulations on your success and enjoy it.

Haha. The USA Fans/Media finally found out our dirty little secret. Toronto is the Philly of Canada. Toronto does not have a good reputation in other parts of Canada. Torontonions are considered narcissistic, rude, greedy, etc. This stereotype that all Canadians are eh this eh that and super friendly is completely false. People immigrate to Toronto because of job opportunities, City density & to be with family but the people are pretty stand offish & cold outside of their own circles.

Anyone who has driven on the 400 series highways in & around Toronto know we have some of the most selfish, idiotic drivers in North America. It's a total clownshow and it's just a reflection of the me-first mentality many Torontonions have. Don't be fooled, we have a history of being poor sports fans and being loud & ignorant. Toronto sports fans are passionate, perhaps some of the most passionate of all sports teams and that is amazing but with that passion comes a lot of ignorance, selfishness that isn't really talked about but it showed itself well enough yesterday. People here trying to minimize & justify it, but the fact is fans inside the arena, inside the bars, at Jurassic Parks, etc were CHEERING AN INJURY..they can lie to themselves that they weren't but more & more videos are coming out making it impossible to deny without purposefully blinding yourself to the truth (which is human nature).

The secrets out, but people in and outside of Toronto in Canada has always known this.

Sports fanbases aren't a monolith. Dudes out in Utah and Indiana spew racial slurs at players, in New York someone might get their ass whipped right in the audience for that if security doesn't get their hands on them first.

Fans cheering for an injured player is not something that would be specific to a geographical region? It's apples to oranges to compare to something like the prevalance of racism?

Again, I'll ask the question that nobody has been able to answer. Why would Toronto magically be more prone to this level of douchebaggery that others places wouldn't be?

The answer is, they aren't. There isn't something magical in the water of Toronto. People suck anywhere.

If you put Utah fans, Boston fans, OKC fans, etc in the same situation, with the same factors etc, you'd have a contigent cheering Durant getting hurt. People just suck, that's the way it is.

Projecting what?

Answer my question. What is magical about Toronto that doesn't exist in other fanbases. You haven't' been able to answer this magical factor. Until you do, all fan bases have bad apples. That's the reality of the situation.

Think like a lot of us, I’m rooting for the Raptors cuz their fan base is admirable and it’s been awesome see the love for their team. But something like this really does leave a bad taste in your mouth. Not that it matters, but part of me almost wants an epic collapse just to stick it to them.

Eh, too be honest Toronto fans are pretty notorious in Canada, so I think thy deserve criticism. The way many Raps fans have been in these playoffs, and the antics of drake certainly don't help.

If the 76ers were in the Finals and this happened.....well we already know

Racism is not something specific to a geographical region either (unless that "geographical region" is the Earth). Again outside of Philly and Boston, two of the worst NBA fanbases along with Utah, never have you seen the crowd cheer about and injury and wave a player off the floor.

It's apples to oranges to compare to something like the prevalance of racism?

Again, I'll ask the question that nobody has been able to answer. Why would Toronto magically be more prone to this level of douchebaggery that others places wouldn't be?

Maybe because that crowd is the type of environment where people that would start a chant and wave at an injured player isn't immediately shunned? Maybe because the Raps fans that weren't cheering are like you and don't particularly care about it?

How often have you gone to an NBA game? You see a lot at one and one major thing is how crowd momentum builds. Enough fans going "this is unacceptable" would've made it so that even if there was a cheer it would be absolutely minor.

The answer is, they aren't. There isn't something magical in the water of Toronto. People suck anywhere.

So you think we'd get n***** chants in Atlanta? Totally. Everyone everywhere is the same. I mean it's not like we can look at Boston, OKC, Utah, Atlanta, NY, and Toronto as cities in general and see plenty of large differences in their populace, what they value, etc.
