Not following. Just showing details overall and from basketball reference.

MJ = 6 Titles, 6 finals MVP's, 5 League MVP's = 17 Points total
Russell = 11 Titles, 0 finals MVP's, 5 League MVP's = 16 Points Total
Kareem = 6 Titles, 2 finals MVP's, 6 League MVP's = 14 Points Total
Lebron = 4 Titles, 4 finals MVP's, 4 League MVP's = 12 Points Total
Magic = 5 Titles, 3 finals MVP's, 3 League MVP's = 11 Points Total
Duncan = 4 Titles, 3 finals MVP's, 2 League MVP's = 9 Points Total
Kobe = 5 Titles, 2 finals MVP's, 1 League MVP's = 8 Points Total
Shaq = 4 Titles, 3 finals MVP's, 1 League MVP's = 8 Points Total
Bird = 3 Titles, 2 finals MVP's, 3 League MVP's = 8 Points Total
Wilt = 2 Titles, 1 finals MVP's, 4 League MVP's = 7 Points Total
Hakeem = 2 Titles, 2 finals MVP's, 1 League MVP's = 5 Points Total
Moses Malone = 1 Titles, 1 finals MVP's, 3 League MVP's = 5 Points Total
Kawhi = 2 Titles, 2 finals MVP's = 4 Points Total

1966 and before only needed 2 series to win a title. 1985 and after needed to win 4 series to win a title. So keep that in mind.

Did you really make up your own scoring framework? Would you mind divulging the scoring legend used? Based on your point scale, I want to know how someone with 11 rings is behind someone with 6 rings.

What happened to facts, not feelings?

No it is adding up total titles won, finals mvp's and league mvp's. I forgot to add 5 titles for Duncan. Also realize Russell would have had finals mvp's but lets not forget he won 11 titles having to win 25 series for those 11 titles. And in some of those was winning game 7 by 1 point against .500 team. From 1985 forward you had to win 4 series a year to get 6 titles or 24 series wins overall. Since no one else could win a title only having to win 2 series it balances out.

Can we work All-NBA awards and maybe all-star game MVPs into your formula?

If Davis stays healthy and LeBron wins another title with the Lakers at age 38, which imo is not impossible, then he overtakes Jordan, and I am a Jordan fan. Points record not so much, the previous holder of the record wasn’t the concensus GOAT either although Kareem, like LeBron, was definitely in the conversation.

Yeap, but some posters are trying too hard to make him GOAT. They are similar to like Cristiano supporters in soccer.

Will you guys let it go, for ****'s sake?

Everyone gets it, your GOAT is MJ. Some people agree with you on who's the GOAT, some people don't.

Can you act like adults and respect opinions that are different from yours, or do you plan to continue with your ad hominems and your mocking against whoever dares not agreeing with the majority?

Tolerance, guys. Look up its meaning.

I have to give it to you though. I posted that days ago and dude went DEEPER into the archives. Bron stans are committed af :lol: Bravo

When your own post gets smoked and you can't defend it, may as well just attack the poster right?

It's never good when an alleged NBA fan thinks making the All-Star game is better than making All-NBA/Defensive.

What I love about LeBron fans is they never bring up Defensive First Team or DPOY when it comes to Jordan and LeBron but they LOVE to point out the awards for their teammates :lol: And please, just because your super team didn't give enough **** during the regular season, it doesn't mean you had a weak team.

MJ is arguably the greatest Sports Star of all time. LBJ is nowhere near that discussion.

The PC board actually backs up their opinions with good narratives and statistical analysis. The takes I'm seeing here are simply "MJ > LeBron. If you can't see that, I don't even know."

Aside from LeBron fanboys they backs up their opinions. The problem is - 50% of PC board became Lebron supporters and tehy constructed their own narratives.

Or titles won for the franchise that drafted you that never won prior to you joining nor had anyone who won league or finals mvp as well in the nba?

The pollster is Public Policy Polling, and they spoke with 1,056 registered voters. See the last paragraph at this link:

On a less serious note PPP once again tested whether people think Michael Jordan or LeBron James is the greatest basketball player of all time in the wake of James breaking the all time scoring record last week. And despite that record it’s still not competitive- Jordan wins out 58-15. It was 77-14 in 2015 so James’ success over the last eight years has led to a little more ambiguity on the question but MJ still has the clear advantage.

Good info!

Funny thing.

If you watched the Rockets game last night.. they were playing full court press on Curry and only Curry the entire game. They were literally pushing him as soon as Curry passed the half court WITHOUT THE BALL. He was doubled and triple teamed the entire night.

Defenses don't do that to lebron. Nobody cares. Lebron is an opportunistic scorer who grabs his stats throughout the 48 mins of a game, but isn't a dominant scorer where he can impose his will like MJ could.

Well LeBron is 40 for one so he's not the threat downhill he once was in his prime on drive and kicks. He's obviously guarded differently because he's surveying the entire floor and is much more physically imposing than both Jordan and Curry. All 5 defenders have to spread out with LeBron because he can make a pass anywhere on the floor with practical ease unlike Jordan and Curry, it's really common sense.

Sure Jordan and Curry LOOK to score more than LeBron and do a lot more off-ball moving but you're making this all about scoring when it's simply not.

Please use the GOAT thread rather than bumping a 2-year old topic just to talk about the same thing.
