Definitely not leading the race but he’s moved up to #3 on my board ahead of Cade who’s put up stinkers in his last two. Not to mention Magic are ahead of the Pistons in the standings. Winning does play a bit of a part as well.

Franz moved to #1 in NBA's new rookie ladder. Barnes 2, Mobley 3, Cade 4, Giddey 5.

Even Green looks better since coming back from that long layoff. Two straight 20pt games if I’m not mistaken.
This board in particular has a lot of extreme overreactions. In the kuminga thread he's already either the next Giannis or a scrub after playing less than 200 non garbage time minutes

That's definitely surprising. But I can't complain.

Edit: Oh these are updated weekly. Makes sense why he moved up considering Barnes and Mobley didn't play. Though he shot poorly in those 3 games.

Wait... hold up. The authors reasoning for having Wagner #1 is:
Wagner scored more points last week (58) than the other Top 4 rookies on this Ladder combined and nearly matched them in total minutes

Yeah no sh*t.... Cade, Barnes, & Mobley didn't play a single minute.

The 38 point game last night didn't factor into this week. That'll be factored into next weeks ladder.

On magic board most people seem optimistic. He is this class premiere perimeter defender, reading pick and rolls like veteran, bodying everyone with his frame. Whats his floor ? Much bigger Bledsoe ? That is propably still a starter on a contender. Is he offensive engine ? Well he doesnt look like one right now, but he was elite pull up shooter in college, he just needs more confidence.
Suggs, Wagner, Isaac is very similar to Bucks defensive core of Holiday, Middleton, Giannis.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

I still draft Barnes and Mobley over Wagner, but I see Wagner's potential to be a better version of Michael Porter Jr before the injury.

In that he'll be a better passing, defending, and Iso scoring version of MPJ.

I think Wagner can put up 22PPG eventually, and that's a safe estimate.

MPJ is an odd comparison.

Wagner takes what the defense gives him, whereas MPJ forces alot. And on defense they couldnt be more opposite, one plays it and the other doesnt.

It may be argued as lazy, but on offense I still see the Hayward comparison. Both are really good at not forcing the issue, move the ball if nothing is there to take advantage of, have a well rounded 3 level game, etc. I think Gordon has always been a better defender than advertised, but think Wagner will be far better in that regard.

I think Franz has a good chance to end up a low level 2nd option, but his skillset best works as an elite 3rd option. He is real, not just a elite role player like Mike Miller. He is a legit top-3 option talent.

Garland and Allen are surefire top 2 players of Cavs which everyone will agree. I believe the 3rd best player of Cavs currently is Love.

loooooooooooooooooooooooooool love ??? seriously man???
The key word is Currently. Since coming back Love is playing very good, check his numbers. In Dec he is averaging 16 PTS, 48% FG, 50% 3P, 93% FT, 7 rebounds and 2.2 assists. With Mobley missing games and Sexton out, Love became 3rd best player of Cavs. Yesterday Mobley came back too and had a good game and so does Love. So now Mobley may take 3rd best player crown back from Love but Love is giving him run for his money.

Well yeah, Mobley barely played in December so I guess Love was the third best Cav of all the guys that were playing. That still doesn't mean he's the 3rd best currently on the Cavs. He still sucks mightily on the defensive end.

I already answered that in the colored bolded. I'm basically saying I think he'll be an improved version of MPJ.

I say improved because they share one thing that they can exploit. It's mostly because both players are 6"10 giving them constantly good looks at the basket and can shoot over most players, height matters here.

Another difference obviously is that Wagner doesn't have Joker who can easily set him up.

But mainly I think Wagner can be a 48/40/85 type of shooter, scoring 22PPG+ with his height and fluidity.

Is too early to make a redraft and have certain about it choices.

Not for the #1 overall pick tho, that would be Mobley without a question, and this isn't a matter of him being a ROY or not at the moment. It's about the potential.

From 2-5 still be between Cade, Barnes, Green, and then Wagner. Obviously.

I've noticed whoever is on top of the NBA Kia Rookie ladder at the end of the year wins the rookie of the year. Last season Ball overtook Edwards in the last week.

Franz has a good shot at hanging on to the lead for at least one more week, since the last game will be included in next week's stats. Plus rookie of the month.

Franz is so freaking efficient with his footwork when attacking the basket. He doesnt waste a single step or motion. Its amazing.

I would redraft:

1. Evan Mobley FC
2. Scottie Barnes F
3. Franz Wagner F
4. Cade Cunningham GF
5. Josh Giddey F
6. Jonathan Kuminga F
7. Alpern Sengun C
8. Chris Duarte GF
9. Jalen Suggs G
10. Brandon Boston Jr GF

there's not much to discuss about Suggs. He hasn't played for a while and didn't look good when he did, what do you want people to talk about?
