Now with Harrell gone too, honestly not much. Anderson, Gordon, and a 2020 1st. Maybe some of their oversea's prospects too.dontforget wrote:I'm not too familiar with the Rockets roster, but what assets do they have remaining to land Paul George?

Would need to involve a 3rd team that's high on Anderson somehow. That 3rd team also probably needs some youth and a pick going to Indy.
Something like:
PG to Houston
Anderson to 3rd team
Future HOU pick to Indy, Future 3rd team pick to Indy, young player to Indy

fouronesix22 wrote:D'antoni is going to have to figure this one out... How do you run your offense now with two players that need the ball as much as they do? Paul has a high ego to which he will bitch and moan if he isnt running the offense and you heard it hear first that I am not a believer this would work out. You will be hearing reports of "disgruntled paul" or harden next season and an overall drop off of the Rockets. Harden was putting mvp type numbers as the starting PG, where is he going to play Paul to where they share the spot light? If the secondary playmaker was such an issue they could have gotten a back up pg that can do that without getting in hardens way
Harden as a point guard was a success already and I think they were a star PF/C away from making noise along with PG or Melo. But if they do shell out their bench just to get melo (another ball dominant player who probably still hates D'antoni) then I guarantee you this experiment fails
Any time you can trade a few decent players for one of the better players in the nba it should be done (cp3 is easily a top 10-12 player)

Anderson, Gordon and Ariza.
One would think they'd like to keep Gordon because they have no other shooting guard but a trade with Anderson as the centerpiece isn't exactly ideal.
Ariza would have real value to the Pacers, good locker room guy on an cheap expiring deal. Gordon and Anderson I'm not so sure. Both on long deals, while Gordon not so bad (3 yrs 40.5 mil remaining) Anderson is on a terrible deal (3 yr 61.6 mil remaining). I don't think taking on big contracts without getting high draft picks is what the Pacers who would be rebuilding would want.

I think pat bev was getting a little bit overrated here. He will be exposed as an average starter on the clips. He was playing the perfect role next to harden, but the guy is not a legit playmaking PG, more of a 3&D.
And for those saying it may not work, is houston suppossed to say no to acquiring cp3 for what basically amounts to a nba version of a poo poo platter?

Re: Chris Paul Opts In; Then Traded To Houston
I love CP3 but I am not quite as miserable as I thought I would be after this trade.
Truth is that CP3 was not the guy to lead us to a championship, primarily due to him being a slower type of player who is reluctant to shoot the ball and he would cost us all of our flexibility due to his outrageous $200M+ contract.
Now, the Clips can rebuild with cheaper, more manageable pieces and we wont have to worry about CP3's declining due to almost continuous injuries that have cost us so much over the years. Ballmer is still pretty rich and will build a contender quickly.
I appreciate all CP3 has done for the club and how he was honest in his meeting with Doc. Now we don't get real value back, but we also dont get Duranted which is somewhat nice, all things considered. I hope BG does the same thing on his way to Boston.

I still don't see them as contenders yet
It's part of more to come... also star players often lead to more star players... its a good thing.
It could theoretically lead to Lebron.
I see it as more CP3/Melo/Wade/LeBron all wanting to go play together after this year.
Harden can't be apart of that...these guys aren't all taking contracts that cheap.
Plus, Wade will probably want to start, and that foursome still needs a center.
I think CP3 just saw an opportunity to give back to LA, and doesn't really mind who he plays for this year.
If we trade Love this year, trade Kyrie next year, we can clear the decks...plus we have LeBron's bird rights which means we could actually sign the other three, then LeBron (who will likely be the most expensive).
Heck, we might not even have to trade Kyrie to do that...but IMO we would if we had to. I don't see Houston trading Harden for that.
Uh yes Harden can.... Rockets can clear lots of cap space next off-season then re-sign free agents they already have the rights too
So you can have Harden, CP3, Melo/pg13, Lebron.... going over the cap to resign your free agents CP3 and potentially PG13 or Melo after signing Lebron... Wade can come along too but he isn't going to command tons of money..
The path is potentially there for the Rockets.... CP3 likely didn't decide to come here to hang out for 1 year with only James Harden... good chance something much bigger is in the works.

Best Clipper ever. Should have been a Laker and I think he would have been a lot happier if he was but I wish CP3 the best in Houston

I agree on everything except the last sentence - all the indications right now are that Blake is staying in LA.
