They are not trading Tatum for a rental

Crazy thing is he might not even suit up. If ainge calls his bluff and he says his injury is "lingering" we already seen he's willing to blow an entire season. Ainge isnt stupid.

He will not sit out two seasons in a row

LeBron's still superman, but his kryptonite (age; he turns 34 in December) is coming upon him. He averaged 5.7 turnovers in the Celtics series and really looked tired in at least two of those games.[/quote]

He looked tired cause he played 82 regular season games, full seven vs the Celtics, while carrying his team like one has ever done before. That wasn't old age, that was a load like no one has every carried before.

That would be incredibly dumb, like beyond stupid to wait until then. KL is a free agent next summer, so if they spurs wait until the deadline, they would get absolute garbage offers because everyone knows KL is leaving in 4 months. The best thing to do is find out what teams would KL extend with if traded and make those teams bid against each other.

so the lakers just need to wait, Kawhi is going there in 2019 (even by the MLE), right?
this was the same conversation we heard about PG13 a season ago

Exactly and until PG signs with OKC, the lakers played the right move.

Why are you being dumb? i didnt even mention hes going to LA, i said he is leaving in free agency. It doesn have to be LA. If the best offer they have is Ingram + hart+ picks right now, its not going to get better by the trade deadline. Every team will lowball them around then.

I think the Celtics package is more enticing to SA than the Lakers package. However, if the Celtics don't believe that trading Jaylen Brown, Terry Rozier, Guershon Yabusele and Memphis' 1st rounder next year is too much, then I see the Sixers coming up with Fultz, Covington and that Sacramento pick.

everything is too much for a 1 year rental. Ainge isn't giving up Brown only for Kawhi to leave. Nor are the sixers giving up Fultz. Paul George leaving the thunder for LA and going through on his promise is only going to drive that point home and give LA & Kawhi more leverage

I think that actually makes LA more desperate actually. LA needs this to happen soon.

Sixers have Miami’s 2021 1st round pick. Sacto’s 2019 1st rounder pick belongs to the Celtics.

Spurs want Jaylen Brown. That’s clear. Tatum off the table. Answers no. If that means kawahi to lakers, so be it.

The media backpedaling as usually

Of course, it was dumb to assume the Spurs were the ones on the clock. They have Kawhi under contract and the Lakers are the one with the shorter fuse right now.. if LeBron is only coming if Kawhi is there, the Spurs hold a TON of leverage. If LeBron is willing to go there with 'just' PG13, then the Lakers should just do that and let SA/Kawhi sort itself out, and just try and be ready next offseason.

That said, I wouldnt hesitate if I'm the Lakers. Ingram + Kuzma for Kawhi, and maybe some extra sweetner. Sign LeBron. PG13 is the clear 3rd banana and should be acquired only if the Lakers are able to.. (like sending Ball/Deng to PHX for a few 2nds)

Exactly, the Celtics and sixers are not giving up anything strong for kawhi, too many variables. . Faced with those facts, the Lakers dont budge. We would be bidding against ourselves.

This makes me wonder how the Spurs would have handled the Irving trade. In no universe do I imagine that they would have taken the package the Cavs ended up receiving.

Yes. He has the potential to be a fringe all star, not super star. Having said that, I would dump him, Kuzma, and a 1st rounder for Kawhi is a heart beat.

Wonder what the Lakers can possibly give up that would make San Antonio anxious to hand him over so quickly...championship banners?

on the contrary they dont. PG and LeBront are LA bound.

a team of PG Bron Ball Kuz Ingram Jules Hart Lopez is better than a team of PG Bron Kawhi and no bench. that team has no depth. The spurs are the desperate ones. the longer they hold onto Kawhi, the less value they get in any trade. LA doesn't have to do jack. They got their two marquee free agents. all these reports of uncertainty is formalities. LA doesn't want tampering charges. You really think PG did a 3 part doc for staying in OKC?

They have SAC's pick if it's first-overall. Definitely something I'd want in an exchange with them.
