I SUGGESTED you shut up before you make a bigger fool of yourself AND your fanbase you care so deeply about.

Our fans have never really been obnoxious before (up until this point). We're a passionate bunch and we can get emotional, but the majority of Toronto is respectful and safe, which ultimately reflects the people within the city, does it not?

Can you fault the fans for being confident in their team? What about Lakers fans when they got Lebron? You would have thought they won the championship already.

You say "of course there are plenty of good people and places in Toronto," but by the way this thread is going, it seems like many think this is indicative of the entire fan base/city, so clearly y'all don't understand that. You don't get to decide who can talk and who can argue, so I suggest you shut up my friend.

More power to you, I would never bother with it. Raptor fans cheer for injuries is now the new Philly fans boo Santa Claus. It's not going away.

Hell, when dudes say that the Nets only have 50 fans, I don't bother arguing it, instead I run with it because I think its funny because it contains a bit of skewed truth (our fanbase is probably the smallest in the NBA).

TBH I would rather be known as the fanbase that cheers injury as opposed to what Boston and Utah are known for

One example of some fans cheering doesn't mean a fan base should be known for something they have done once. Man I wish i could think of a time in history where a few people did something once and than everyone in a geographical area around them was accused of the same thing... Uncle Dennis wrote:Lmao the GB is loving this because it's giving them a reason to hate the Raptors and their fans (even though there was a standing ovation and chants of "KD" before he left).

I mean I wouldn't say "the GB" because that would be ironical in nature to GENERALIZE an entire group by the actions of a PORTION of it *ahem*

But those people choosing to run with it, yes it certainly is giving them a platform to talk as much sh*t as they want under the guise of this incident.

Any rational person would acknowledge the plethora of compassion and apologies being given over and over by nearly every Raptor fan in this thread but they're willfully turning a blind eye so they can to an assert a foolish and factually unfounded GENERALIZATION.

I mean there have been multiple highlights of other SEGMENTS WITHIN a fanbase doing likewise and people can equally understand for example that even if POCKETS of fans from say BOS, OKC, Utah or IND have been caught making racial slurs we can't GENERALIZE it to the entire fanbase. Heck the Warriors' fans cheered when FVV was lied out on the court bleeding despite not knowing the severity of his injuries...

Unfortunately there are idiots everywhere...while what they're idiotic about may vary, being an idiot is the commonality that identifies them universally.

Anyone who refuses to accept this is being willfully ignorant.

Ok. I'm just going to ignore your attempt at an insult and just continue to let you dig a deeper and deeper grave for your fanbase.

Horrific cheering for the injury. It happened. People make mistakes. Today we dust ourselves off and say that was wrong. I'm sorry your feelings are hurt over the GB, but we've all made mistakes and lived with a black eye for a few days. Accept it. And this isn't a Toronto thing, it's a human being thing.

But for you to come on here all hot and insulting people? Well just actually proves the opposition of your point. So, rationally speaking you are making it worse.

Btw hope the Raps win. Carry on.

The crowd erupted when Durant started limping after he got helped up. There is no way to spin this my dude

yall should just embrace it at this point. You've entered the darkside. You're still nowhere near as bad as Boston, so don't take it too personally lol

Take it from someone who was at the game:

CANsportsguru wrote:
Was at the game and it definitely was a different perspective in the arena than it was shown on TV. Fans were cheering because we scored off a turnover. They also showed the replay in the arena. The TV cams stayed with KD on the floor. Once he was helped up and fans realized he was hurt they started chanting "KD". A few a**holes don't dictate the entire fan base nor the 19,000 people at the game. Entire thread should be locked.

Not spinning anything.

We're a great city, one of the safest in North America (for a city as large as Toronto), and that wouldn't be the case if it wasn't for good people. I'll embrace that any day.

So I should not believe my lying eyes and ears, eh?

and the fans at Jurassic park? how about them? just some random hooligans not indicative of the entire fanbase?

Again, ALL videos shown to this point paint a completely different picture to what you're alleging. In every video (including this one that I have seen from one of the many douchebags I have discovered I follow on social media https://streamable.com/fu8nr) shows that majority of raps fans in that particular setting we're celebrating his injury. I was personally at Mississauga Jurassic Park and majority cheered there as well. It's just totally baseless to argue that it was a minority. We have evidence of most raps fans cheering in the arena, outside in Jurassic Park, on the streets in Toronto, in several bars, Jurassic Park in Mississauga etc. You should really take a step back and reflect on your fellow fans before you start unconditionally defending them.

Your fanbase is quick to claim that Canada is United, "we are all in this together", "we the north" and you revel in the plaudits that had been coming your way until yesterday as a great fanbase. Guess what? Now the entire fan base should also shoulder the blame for the ones who cheered KD's injury.

I still predict the raps will win game 6. But doesn't mean your fanbase can claim to be dignified after what transpired last night.

Sorry, but no. Toronto Maple Leafs are hated by everyone outside of Tor. Fans in that city don't have the best reputation in hockey, and its bled over to the Raps the past few years. Only reason it never got bad was because of Lebron smoking them ever playoffs.

The way many Rap fans have been this season and playoffs, has been Philly-like.

Of course not all Raptor fans cheered KD's injury but a significant amount did, in the arena and out.

This bad behaviour is not exclusive to Raptor fans, but it's still despicable.

The fans who did not cheer the injury don't have to apologize on behalf of those who did, but those who did cheer should have a small level of shame.

It's normal to be upset with the fan behaviour, but projecting that sentiment upon the entire fanbase is unwarranted.

We should all move on from this incident and put it behind us, but we should not forget the lessons to be learned about how to have class and the consequences when we do not.

it should? why should everyone be to blame for some idiots? there is zero logic there.. I cant even think of a single reason why the whole fan base should be to blame for that when we have said they are idiots. It doesn't make any sense. This sounds a little bit like you might also say something like " That person of another race did something bad!!! i'm going to hate everyone who is like them too!" sounds pretty dumb doesn't it

You can only own it if it was actually true that 20k fans were cheering a players injury, they simply were not. The optics on tv are much worse than what actually happened in the arena. I was in the building, the entire crowd rose as Ibaka made the steal and were cheering from that point on. You guys watching tv had the benefit to see the focus on Durant being down, we didn't even see him down until minutes after and the players rushing over and by then our players were already calling for hte crowd to settle. Again, there were some idiots that were waiving and cheering for the actual injury, but the crowd wasn't doing that in reaction to a player being hurt.

So you believe that Raptor fans are now at the level of fans who cheered and asked if Michael Irvin wanted to snort the 40 yard line as he laid on the ground motionless after suffering a career ending spinal cord injury?

I did read. Your 'maybe this happened' is a complete guess.

So we're guessing as to maybe why the Toronto fanbase might be different than other fanbases and maybe reacted differently than other.

So what's sounds more logical.

Maybe maybe maybe?

Or humans are generally the same.

Well considering you don't even believe humans are generally the same, as shown by your refusal to say a n***** heckle in Atlanta would slide, I'd say you're being intentionally obtuse.

The fact that this got more run than an organization and it's players along with the media essentially pressuring KD into playing is absolutely ridiculous
