One thing I that always confused me is why - I guess because he's a winning player - the narrative was always that he has a low ceiling.

I think he's gonna be a star in this league and easily the best player from this draft class.

I don’t think he shoots enough to win an MVP award but he was +20 tonight for a reason. He makes his teammates better.

Putting him in the starting lineup is absolutely ridiculous. He's clearly not ready at all.

How did Haliburton drop so far? I remember Hollinger saying he could be fourth pick

He left in the 3rd qtr I believe with a sprained ankle. Still another rough night for him though.

He looks bad. . Like very bad.

Haliburton's IQ is already the best on the team imo. Maybe second to Fox, but Fox has 3 years on him.

How could all the experts, fans etc want Haliburton for Suns and they still just pass on the easy, safe option and go with Jalen Smith. What a **** up that was.

Deni Avdija is very good defender:
Read on Twitter

https://youtu.be/tWHWDu3HzL8?t=41

He's good rebounder, does almost no mistakes on both ends and he's also extremely efficient scorer

7.5 pts (67.2 TS%), 5 reb, 2.5 ast (only 0.75 tov), 1.25 stl per game

After all good things said above goes the big bad one: he's not playing his game, but just fitting in, deferring to star players and trying too hard to take only good (or required because of shot clock) shots, and to limit turnovers - and so not making any "risky" drives or passes. All this good for a role-player, but not bringing him closer to his ceiling...

He is a high floor low ceiling and some of it was expected. But surprised by his shooting and draymond vibes.
wanted him trading down but the real question is can he put 15-5-5 while maintaining those elite advanced numbers (true shooting 8th, efg 12th, offensive rating 2nd, off ws 9th in the entire league) or is he intentionally taking good shots?
He could take a hit if asked larger role 3rd option which was I didnt want him early.
The only sure things as legit 2nd/3rd options so far are Williams/Wiseman bc they took more than 10 shots and attacking the rim/elite shooters.
Him and Precious would go from top 5~10 in a redraft intangibles alone tho.
Doncic will be goat. Lauri will be his sidekick.

For those who watch the games rather than box score appraising he has shown flashes, moreso on the defensive end (he actually guarded Curry quite well today). Offensively he has made some impressive passes here and there to open teammates who aren't always knocking down their shots.

I agree though that overall he has been disappointing, but the caveat being we are only 4 games into the season with a very limited training camp/pre-season. He very much looks like someone adjusting to the pace of the NBA and it doesn't help that his confidence has been shot by Casey yanking him every time he makes a couple of errors.

Preseason too.

Normally big time ballers show signs during the first 6-7 games, they don’t wither.

Ah yes the 3 game pre season, Nobody struggled during it

not like there isnt any summer league, a big pre-season ect. for these guys, He's the leading PG on a shithouse team 6 organised games in with his team mates in the NBA, what the hell dude?

I'll wait till he attempts more than 10 shots in game before i even think about him on the all-rookie team.

That's certainly a take...

His impact on the game goes beyond the box score, he was pivotal to the win tonight against Denver.

No one is denying his impact. But he already showed he was guard version of D Green in college and was still not a top 5 pick despite multiple elite drafting franchises in the top 5.
This is the same question I asked to Doncic, Jokic and doubted them before they exceeded that 15-20pt mark. You have a chance to be special but can you meet expectations and become that corerstone or will you be content on Manu/Rubio role?

Point guard is a notoriously easy position for a 19 year old Euro leaguer to adapt to the NBA game and 3-4 games is far more than what is necessary to judge his future prospects. Kudos to all of you who recognize that.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

Of all the NBA players, both past and present, you compare him to Danny Green? That shows you've never really watched him play.

Edwards continues to look like a modern power guard. Plays mean. Scores easy.
Avidja is smooth. His numbers don't represent his game. Russ and Beal hog up the usage.
Wiseman is flashing.
Williams looks like a 10 year 3 and D.
Haliburton? Wouldn't trade him for any of the above. He has his warts. Needs to continue to prove that his three will translate (looking like it). Needs to add some bulk to consistently score in the paint. But the one wart that is not real is his volume. Hearing volume as a reason for why he should not be considered for all rookie teams or reasons for why he'll never be a 2nd/3rd option is just foolish.

Haliburton was the biggest WTF moment in the draft. No idea how a player like that can drop so low. High floor, low ceiling is the same crap that was spewed about guys like Tatum, Doncic. Haliburton is not a flashy scorer type but he's extremely smart player who impacts the game in every other aspect possible. Something most of those raw, flashy athletes rarely ever learn.

Ahh, that makes more sense.
