Whoever allowed him to play can go **** selves. At the end of the day it's human being we talking about. KD career is at risk now, guy may never be the same player he was. Oh yeah **** media scums that will talk s*** just get some cheap rep. I was no KD fan but definitely be one from now on.

the gm went straight to PR mode and to save face. has it ever been done before?

it might be real tears, but i'm sure him and the medical staff forced kerrs and durants hand and got him to play.

I’d rather have the Raptors be swept, than loose any player to an injury like this, especially an all time great like Durant. Here’s to a speedy recovery KD! Vancouver has your back!

This injury has pretty much killed my excitement in this series. I didn’t feel anything at all after that loss, but this injury has me really bummed out. I never liked Durant as a person, but loved his game and it’s sad to think we may never get to see him play at an MVP-level again.

People will still bring up Durant joining a 73-9 winning team lol and how he was never that important for them.

I feel sorry for everyone involved.

edit:

Ahh geeze this was already posted under a different title. If the mods see this can they merge with the thread titled

"Shams: Durant Has Achilles Injury "

Thanks.

The only decent question came at the end.
And Meyers knows damn well that its linked.
I feel for BM and the Warriors, I really do, however when you run the operations for a business like an NBA team you would be getting all the info about every possible outcome and you can't tell me that the doctors etc didn't let KD or Meyers know that this was a legitimate chance of happening if he steps onto the court in a game, an NBA Finals game at that.

And while this isn't a knock on him, he all but knew KD had torn his achilles. How does Ramona Shelburne and Woj find out "the warriors believe" the MRI will confirm it's a torn achilles? Joe Lacob shouldn't be leaking things like this (complete estimation on my part yes, however quotes from him just after Shelburne announced it) and there should be a professional press conference done after the MRI with the doctors, KD, Rich Kleiman and Meyers answering questions. All of this source/speculation crap is why teams get into this mess.

You guys are so ridiculous and petty and im sure some are jealous and just try to hate on anything related to the Warriors.

And still talking crap about the light years comment when we have made 5 finals in a row, won 3 out of the last 4 championships, have created a team that everyone seems to say is so good it destroyed competition and was unfair for the league. And then our ownership is privately funding a billion dollar arena? Who else has done those things?

And Bob Meyers? This guy is a good guy, a former agent who the players love. If you hear him talk you realize the humanity this guy has, and honestly so much of our team stresses how real life is more important that basketball, Kerr, Curry, Meyers, Klay, etc..

Meyers was there for Kerr when he was fighting through his back injury and always talked about his health before his coaching. This guy organizes a yearly trip to San Quentin prison to play basketball against the inmates and remind them people havent forgotten about them even with their histories. Even brought the championship trophy there.

This guy is a good guy, but people cant let go of rivalries and pettiness for even a minute to even see that. Pretty pathetic.

No, this playoffs has validated everything I have believed since he joined:

1. Warriors are the Curry show, he is their best player

2. Warriors, without Durant, are an "every other year" type of champion

3. Warriors, with Durant, are an "every year" type of champion, so he does make them a lot better

4. His time in GS has basically been low hanging fruit. A 1st tier player who only needs to perform at the level of a 3rd tier player for his team to win it all.

This is weird. Weren’t people actually criticizing them for holding out Klay when he was ready to play?

To be honest Durant needs to stop caring about what the eff others say about him.

You see that with Kawhi he wouldn't be bullied/pressured into playing. He has guys like Uncle Dennis looking out for him.

The idea some corporate organisation has your best interests at heart is ridiculous. They have the best interest of their share holders at heart.

Players of KD's caliber make own decisions...see Kawhi.

That’s factually untrue. If a team makes a decision that a player is too injured to play and might risk further injuries by doing so, then that player cannot get onto to court no matter how confident he is in his abilities. They’re not just “responsible for disclosing facts and making a recommendation.” It’s literally their call whether a player get to play even if it’s a non life-threatening injury. The fact that some players foolishly choose to play even when there’s a risk doesn’t abdicate the organization from it's responsibility for making that call. Good, smart, thoughtful teams will actually take the player’s long term health into consideration. What we’ve seen from the Warriors and Spurs is that a lot of teams don’t really give a crap about their players and are willing to sacrifice their long term careers for short term gains.

Superstars don't get pressured by teams, it's the other way around. You think KD and his agent will be pressured by a team which he is probably leaving? Also, what did we see with the Warriors prior to this incident? Based on their track record I will give them benefit of the doubt. And we're also talking about NBA Finals here.

Dude, that’s exactly my point. Durant probably wasn’t pressured; he likely legitimately wanted to play and thought he’d be fine. But a good organization should know not to rush a player’s recovery especially because he’s always going to want to get back on the court. I’m not saying these teams are intentionally pressuring players despite the players’ protests knowing full well they’re risking their careers. They’re deferring their responsibility to the players despite ample information that the players aren’t fully healthy and are willing to have the players bear all the risk. And yes it’s precisely because it’s the NBA Finals that they allowed him to play even though it’s no less risky to do so during the Finals than the regular season.

The other side of this Durant thing is Kawhi - gets killed (actually he kind of skated...) for sitting out a season with injury and playing 60 games to ensure his health. People are mad.

Durant gets seriously injured and people question whether he's really hurt and kill him - and he comes back when he shouldn't and tears his Achilles.

Moral of the story? Don't let media narratives determine your decisions on your health. Look out for yourself because no one else will.
