sooo ironic that despite taking all brooklyn’s draft picks, it’s the Nets who could be in a better spot the year after the picks are done

I'm still taking us without AD and with Irving on the Nets. Irving has absolutely proved this year that he sucks as #1 especially in the playoffs where he struggled BIG TIME to make any adjustments. Unless he has a LOT and I mean LOT more to offer, I'd take us over the Nets comfortably with a starting 5 of say Rubio or Rondo/Brown/Tatum/Hayward/Horford(bench Morris/Smart, etc)...

I'm with you on the Nets not getting that much better just by adding Kyrie. Theyre going to still have the same defensive issues unless they get bigger (though they'll still be poor on the wings with Kyrie/Dlo).

That said, this is a guards/wing league and a Rondo/Brown (or Rubio/Rozier whatever bin point guard) hurts my eyes to look at

The Nets won't be a legit contender unless they get Kawhi/KD even with Russell...but that's primarily of a few reasons:

Giannis and Bucks
Kawhi (and raptors if he stays)
Embiid and Sixers

The size of those three teams gives them an edge over the Nets because they just do not have anyone who can even slow down Giannis/Kawhi/Embiid.

But apart from those teams, I can see the Nets being the 4th with Kyrie paired with Russell.

With Kyrie only sure they are still likely behind those 3. If the Nets add Tobias or Butler then I see no reason why they couldn't make a run. They lack the top superstar (Giannis, Kawhi, Emibiid) that those three teams have but make up for it with high end #2/#3 option stars.

Still not likely the favorites but not a team you want to face that can be a terror offensively with Kyrie, Russell, Harris and one of Butler/Tobias.

I'd be shocked if the Nets didn't make a serious run at Tobais/Butler

As for AD just keep him out west in LA. East doesn't want him.

Lakers is the only one in the race right now. They have some leverage.

Boston and Knicks won’t gut their future for a rental AD. NYK would if they had KD and/Kyrie, but that ship has sailed.

I think Denver has the assets to do it and they would be competitive after the trade because of Jokic. But it’s a risky move and don’t seem they want to do it.

They are waiting to see if the Celtics include Tatum. If I'm the Celtics I'm hesitant to include him. They might take a lesser deal from the Celtics honestly out of spite. But who knows at this point.
