I wish Kobe got to watch this, as a fellow MJ fan he would have been geeking out just as much as most of us.

Jerry Krause: I love Dan Majerle he's a great defensive player.

Jordan: Gives Krause a proverbial "f**k you" and goes out and averages 41 a game for the series.

I have no idea if Krause actually ever made it known that he liked Majerle. At the very least, Jordan built it up as truth in his head and, as always, MJ took the "slight" against him and beat it into submission.
Krause game plan!
He always knew Jordan would take it personally.

The Lebron Last Dance documentary will start and end with him giving up on multiple teams once there was any sign of adversity.

The Durant Last Dance will begin and end with him joining a stronger team that he couldn’t beat the year before.

I’m sure they’ll twist both things w/ a narrative of how they needed to leave those awful situations, but very true that you can see the major difference in the mentality.

Also, KD needs to accomplish WAY more to be deserving of such a documentary.

1.) Jordan really did seem to take the '98 All-Star game showdown with Kobe as a personal "teaching" moment for Kobe.

2.) He wanted to go with Adidas, not Nike as a rookie. Just think if he had chosen Adidas anyway? How much would the shoe game be different now?

Edited to add: Apparently it wasn't because Adidas didn't want to offer him a deal, they were just caught in a rough spot at the time and didn't have the ability to make him an offer to rival Nike's.

I remember reading a Sports Illustrated article with Phil Nike in the 90s. He admitted without MJ, they would've went bankrupt.

I just got done watching the Jalen and Jacoby aftershow, and apparently Spot Bilt shoes had an offer on the table to match Nike. They just couldn't promise they'd be able to match Nike's marketing power so Jordan went with Nike. I'd never heard of Spot Bilt shoes until that moment, but we were this close to them being the most popular shoe brand right now.

What cussing? I heard a few coaches in archived interview do it...but honestly that's how people talk...

In certain contexts, yes.

But an iconic athlete sitting in front of a camera, being interviewed for a broadcast that will be nationally televised, throwing in random cuss words every few sentences?

Seems forced and calculated.

ESPN exec thought bubble: "The story of this Bulls team has been repeated ad nauseam, so let's throw in a little spice. That'll get people talking!"

Honestly, didn't notice it. The interviews seem like normal communication to me.

I know you are bing hyperbolic.... but those ratings don't lie:

Image

1993, 1996, 1997 and 1998 remain the 4 highest rated finals ever. 1991 is 6th.

The 1986 finals is the only non MJ/Bulls series in the top 5

Honestly insane how high ratings are today! There's 1000x more to do today and ratings are THAT high, really is proof basketball's never been more popular.

Well, why wouldn't they watch the NBA finals live? They can watch the other stuff any time they want. There is no excuses for ratings going down, the game is just not as compelling anymore.

Why would they watch anything live? it used to be people had watch whatever was on cable so a LOT of people would do this thing called channel surfing and they might end up stopping on basketball. Today, most people don't do that. A fraction of people have cable. A fraction of people even have receivers where they can get the "network" channels. Heck, I know more people who didn't even bother to buy a tv because they use their computers.

I used to for example watch the world series or the super bowl back in the day. today...I can't be bothered to go out of my way to turn them on. It's just too much work for something I don't care that much about. Make no mistake a LOT of people were watching basketball back in the day because, nothing else was on.

their docs are definitely coming in the future no doubt but they are gonna have to spin and stretch the heck out of those narratives to even try and make a legit case

they are legends, but there can only be one goat, and to this day, mj stands alone far above the rest

Just cause you are a great sports athlete doesn’t mean you should be expected to be involved in activism . If you wanna be great but if you don’t wanna be also great as many people don’t want to be involved in politics and that is ok

It's the ridiculous mob mentality and exception that you must be with us or you are against which needs to die.

- I really respect how the series has been directed but I can't believe they didn't insert the famous shot of Laimbeer and Isiah looking through the camera in the hallway. That shot is the most intimidating and one of the most powerful shots in NBA history. If you want to emphasize how for real the bad boys were, just insert that image. The look in their eyes just speaks for itself.

- I loved the music they used when they show the Bulls winning their first chip in LA. It's exhilarating.

What shot is this?
