Yes, and anyone who says it wasn't a dunk is bitching for no reason. I mean seriously, the man got robbed last year. He should be a 2x champ right now.

Is it all the Jamario Moon Raptors nuts who started this "not a dunk" nonsense?

FWIW, Howard was on Mike and Mike this morning and confirmed that he did not touch the rim on purpose.

That's incredible. 55. Most spectacular dunk ever. He intentionally threw it in. Incredible. I'm assuming to maintain the illusion of flying? If you look at him just as he's releasing the ball, he really does look like Superman flying through the air with his fist out, except instead of a fist it's a basketball. If he truly thought all that out and purposefully didn't touch the rim and purposefully threw it in...that's the most artistic dunk ever. The only dunk that actually qualifies as performance art outside of a sports context. I can't say enough about it, if what he's saying is true.

But come on...he's just playing, right?
It had to have been accidental. Right?

Everyone has seen this iconic image of MJ dunking from the free throw line.

Does anyone have a hi-res image of the Dwight Howard superman dunk from the same angle?

Why in God's name does everyone assume the dunk was accidental? He MEANT to throw the ball. He's done this before. It was part of the Superman gimmick. Geeze. :banghead:

Oh, come on.
That's like calling "glass!" after unintentionally banking in a three-pointer.

Except...not 20-24 feet away from the basket, but close enough where if you were Dwight Howard you'd actually have control over whether your hand wound up on the rim or inches away from the rim. You doubt Dwight Howard doesn't wind up doing that threw-down thing now and then in practice? You think he hasn't figured out by now where he has to be in the air for that throw-down thing to take place? Where he has to take off more or less, and where the ball has to be for him to grab? Get real. Also, some NBA players can intentionally bank three pointers if they want/need to. They're professional athletes, they're 300 or so of the best basketball players in a world of 6 billion human beings. You're like a person doubting the NBA player who banks a three intentionally and who then explains he did it intentionally. "Oh come on!" No, dude, you come on.

Him whipping the ball in hard as hell from that far back was way more impressive than if he just dunked it.

Well...

I didn't see the dunk contest, but I heard a ton of hype about it on the radio. So I was pretty eager to see it on YouTube.

But it actually wasn't that great to be honest. It looked to me like he didn't get a fast enough start or something and he ended up just peaking too soon and having to throw it in.

It almost seemed like he messed up but he acted confident enough that not too many people noticed.
We have met the enemy, and he is us.
