Luka was what? 23 years old back then? And Brunson was a one-dimensional player incapable of creating for others for three and a half years. He started to show signs of life in the second half of the 2021/2022 season when it was already too late. He completely vanished in the 2020/21 playoffs.
In 2021/22, he was great - for the first year, he was really great, but by then, it was already decided that he would go to NYK. So what exactly should Luka, who was only 23 years old back then, do?

I am excited to see what the Dort-ure chamber is about next series. Guarding Irving/Doncic is a daunting task.

Also, without a bear-like presence (Jonas Valančiūnas) to wear down Chet Holmgren, he might have a better time this series as well. These young guys look very legitimate besides the post game conference.

Kyrie seems to enjoy playing with Doncic and being apart of the Mavs Org.

So did Brunson, they were drafted together and are great friends but I'm not sure Luka appreciated what he had in Brunson as he grew into a more substantial role.

Losing him and realizing this probably woke him up to the fact he needs someone who can take a share of the ball handling and scoring load as it's difficult to do it for 82 games and then the playoffs all by oneself. He has an elite guy next to him now and I bet he really enjoys it, too.

The Mavs FO did a great job at the deadline as well in getting some defensive guys so they aren't so one sided, either. This is probably the most well rounded and talented team that Luka has ever played with the Mavs franchise.

Zubac was the only Clippers player that did better than expected. Dominant in game one. Basically a walking double-double all series long. Not getting played off the floor by Doncic. Survived the switch hunting better than most bigs.

I'm rooting for OKC, but if the Mavs win, I'm fine rooting for them.

It was mavs management that led to Brunson's departure. Not sure why people trying to say there was something there between Luka/Brunson when there's been no indications from either player.
