Pretty spot on. Clippers got a damn good haul, especially from a GM like Morey.

More so when you realize that the Rockets didn't have to give the Clippers ****. They could of given all these players to a team way under cap like Sixers, then signed him outright. Sure, it would of taken more steps and work to pull off... but still. I'm happy that Ballmer+Morey worked together in a classy way over the last week+ to facilitate this. Maybe the teams will now have a good relationship going forward for trades etc.

Beverley always play hard which often hurting himself
Dekker shows flashes but need time to develop, he is smart player
Harrell is nice, improves his shooting, good hassle player
Lou Williams is just like Crawford
the rest just non-guaranteed contracts Morey just got to make this trade work

As a Rockets fan do you feel the Clippers got a half way decent haul considering the prospect that CP3 could of just walked and let you guys dump cap on a team like the Sixers to clear room? Thanks for info BTW.

two young players and a pick
way better than CP3 just walk away from FA

The Rockets can give CP3 the supermax, right?

This is clearly part of something bigger... CP3 didn't come to Houston to just hang out and try and compete with Harden... they know those two alone are not enough...something else is going on... we just have to wait and see.

yes
but it sounds like CP3 want to see how well he and Harden play together before deciding
he can become FA next season and join LBJ

Here's some information on the Chris Paul trade. First the MICRO:
Paul's relationship with Doc Rivers started to deteriorate rapidly after the Clippers acquired Austin Rivers. Several members of the team felt Austin acted entitled because his dad was both the coach and the President of Basketball Operations. In the view of the tenured players, Austin Rivers never tried to fit in, and when players tried to address the situation with him, he still did not respond the way the core of the team wanted him to. It led to resentment within the locker room, which often played out during games. One of Paul's biggest contentions with Doc was that Paul, and other players, felt Doc treated Austin more favorably than other players. He would yell at guys for certain things during games and practices, but not get on Austin in the same manner for similar transgressions.

But what really solidified Paul's dissatisfaction with Doc was a proposed trade involving Carmelo Anthony last season. New York offered Carmelo and Sasha Vujacic to the Clippers in exchange for Jamal Crawford, Paul Pierce and Austin Rivers, a deal to which Rivers ultimately said no. That event led Paul to feel that keeping his son on the roster was more important to Doc than improving the team. So, ultimately, Paul lost both trust and faith in Doc. As one league executive put it, "Chris despises Doc."
(I was also told that when Paul met with the team to inform them of his plans, Jerry West was not in attendance. It was only Doc and Lawrence Frank.)
MACRO
This move is a win-win for Chris Paul, and it was all part of a master plan. By opting into the final year of his current contract and pressuring the Clippers to trade him to Houston, Paul will be in the exact same situation next summer. He can re-sign with the Rockets for 5 years and $200+ million or sign a 4-year deal for about $150 million with another team. In addition, he will save several million dollars in state income tax.

Also, by being committed to the Rockets for only one season, it gives him a year to see if he can actually co-exist and pursue a title with James Harden. But even beyond that, this move gives Paul more flexibility to join LeBron James in 2018. If he stayed in LA or signed the max deal with the Clippers and forced them to do a sign-and-trade with the Rockets, Paul and LeBron could only join forces at one location. Now, they will have the ability to pick and choose wherever they want to go as a tandem, which could be Houston, LA {Lakers or Clippers (provided Doc is no longer with organization)}, or any other destination in-between.

That's why the Rivers family are my most hated persons in the league.

But I don't want to see LeBron in LA or Houston, CP3 should go to Cleveland tbh

I don't buy that Doc is the reason CP3 left. He could have told Ballmer to fire Doc and Ballmer would have done it. CP3 was the one who demanded Doc in the first place, and I remember a report from earlier this season that he was still more loyal to Doc than to any of his teammates.

This. I always believed Doc was the only person with the Clippers that CP actually liked.

I love how Houston is always adding superstars every offseason. What an awesome franchise!

Is this the key to building a team to win titles though ?

Do not get me wrong, I too admire Rockets GM for being pro-active. But Rockets have not reached the finals yet.

He can join Lebron James in Houston.

It makes the most sense actually.... sign Lebron and sign CP3 with bird rights afterwards going over the cap

For who? The Rockets created cap space so they can possibly make more moves in free agency instead of using it to sign CP3 outright. Clippers get Beverly and a 1st round pick just to take on some expiring contracts

Actually, they did not. all four guys are on the very cap friendly contracts; lou 7m, beverly 5m, dekker&Harrell are rookie cont. If they were sent Ryan Anderson or Eric Gordon as return, we could talk about a nice cap space move. Basically they gave up bunch of good contracts (whole bench) for no reason while they could sign CP3 as FA then use Ryan and Eric for George trade. Now they might land PG anyway but they have no bench.

This is **** crazy lmao

Rivers has an even bigger hard on for Jamal Crawford then his son, I'm not surprised he didn't trade Jamal Crawford and Austin Rivers for Carmelo Anthony.

Seriously...he could have got Carmelo for Jamal Crawford and **** Austin Rivers, this is nuts.

What makes u think this is his doing? Consultant/Adviser is really just a moniker they give a respected player around the league that still needs a check. Untill Doc gets the boot ill assume this is him

West is a "consultant" on paper, but I think the GM-level money that Ballmer's paying him is more telling of what his actual role is. If Doc still had all the power, we'd have gotten fleeced in this trade.

U did..thats why i think its still him
