Mavs getting two shooters? JJ can barely play more than 10 minutes in a game and is only shooting 36% from 3. While Melli is shooting 19% from 3 this year and is a 31% 3pt shooter so far in the NBA.
Pels getting a gritty veteran forward? Sure a gritty veteran forward that cant shoot and father time is showing like crazy when it comes to his athleticism and defense.
So in different words, a whole bunch of nothing in exchange for a whole bunch of nothing.
JJ can open the lanes even tad bit more for Luka its huge help i think
JJ is washed. He doesn't move like the JJ of old off the ball. You also cant hide him on the defensive end. The Pels are in desperate need of a guard that could create some lanes for Zion and Ingram, a guard like JJ is exactly what they need. But JJ hasnt been able to provide that this year. Father time has caught up to him.

Pat Riley did the impossible today.
He did 2 not 1 but 2 2for 1 trades involving junk.

Pretty much every 'shooter' we've ever traded for and many of the one's we've signed as free agents, all get to LA and all of a sudden, suck at shooting... So, I think we'll see what ends up on the buyout market for that.
Like who? If you mean Danny green he didn’t suck at all and provided way better spacing than the current mess of a tea.Lm.
Can’t think of anyone else they’ve brought in that can shoot. Wes?’vet min player that sucks? Big surprise.

I don't think the deadline changed the season's outlook. It's basically rearranging the chairs on the Titanic.
We all know its BKN vs. LAL in the Finals.

And imagine if LAL is a Lowry away from winning, because they held onto THT.

Well... Miami's already at least a Lowry away from winning, because they held on to Herro...
Point being, trades involve market prices that have nothing to do with the eventual records of the teams involved... You can't be a good GM and go all-in for every player you need in a moment.

Imagine the LAL, Miami and Philly not out bidding each other to get him. He’s an honorable dude, but at 35, and looking for a healthy extension, no one was going to toss in the kitchen sink.

THT is the kitchen sink?

Shroeder, KCP, and THT is a lot to give up for a 35 year old expiring.

Wonder if the Hawks even want Lou Will? Chances he's waived or bought out? Lakers could use a shooter, and it'd keep him in the building.

Re: Trade Deadline Reactions and Buyout Market Thread
Love Rondo to the Clips -- this will boost them up solidly at least, and improves their chances to get to the finals. Will be fun to see Rondo/PatBev/George/Kawhi/Ibaka out there... or go even smaller with Batum or Morris at the 5. IMO the improvement of Mann and additon of Morris, Batum, and Jackson in the rotation made Lou Will basically expendable.
Love Powell to Blazers -- they'll be deadly on the perimeter and a tough-er out than before.. but still need Collins and Nurkic to be a contender.
Love Vic-Dipo to Miami -- perfect spot for him to play on a deep team, and one that emphaszies team play and culture, will fit in really well, and can see him retiring there as long as he gets paid. He'll be able to defend more consistently again too. Miami is incredibly deep and even moreso once they likely get Aldridge.
Love Fournier to Boston -- compliments the 3 main perimeter guys to finish small with Thompson at center, if needed
Love Hill to Philly -- will compliment Ben Simmons as a utility lead guard and tough defender. Can really shoot too.
Gordon to Denver, is interesting... will have to see how he fits next to Jokic and how much of an impact offensively he'll really have outside of easy baskets, which will be trimmed in the playoffs. Defensively he makes them better and more versatile for sure.
Bulls I like their moves, but will just be out in the first round I'd say. They'll start to come on more the next couple years though.
Knicks getting Ferguson i really like... he better get time there so he can continue his development as an athletic 3/D player.
--
Philly or Miami will take out Brooklyn, calling it right now..
maybe even Boston who can D up still when they put their mind to it, due to their athleticism and system.
Both Philly and Miami are built to beat teams like Brooklyn are, so its gonna be neat and interesting to see.
---
Miami, LAC, Philly, Boston, and Portland are big winners... in their own respective additions for their teams.. all got better and addressed weaknesses fairly well.
Houston is a big winner in that they speed up their rebuild to full now. Cleveland-West.
