16.6 pts, 8.3 rbds, 5.5. assists in a 10 game sample without Fred. He puts up better number than Cade with a tougher defensive assignment at a lower usage as the primary/secondary ball-handler and the 3rd option.

People are really missing the boat with having Barnes and Mobley ahead of Cunningham. Mobley should probably be 1st team All Defense but the NBA has ALWAYS placed more weight on offensive production with ROTY, All-NBA and Playoff MVP awards…and for good reason. The NBA is an offensive showcase league.

You a big Michael Carter-Williams fan?

How many rookie's have averaged 15.2/7.6/3.3/1.2/0.8?

Not really, it's all about usage.

Barnes averaged 5+ assists without VanVleet in the lineup and 18 PPG without Siakam in the lineup. He could put up massive volume stats on a rebuilding team.

It's a really bad argument why someone is supposed to be better.

Or his weaknesses and inefficiencies would be exposed and taken advantage of with prolonged high usage like Cunningham has of and on battled with. You can’t ignore the reality that Barnes is very protected in Toronto playing alongside so many quality players who they themselves can take over and close games.

The more you lower the threshold, the more average players you bring into the discussion.

This raw number recital, both pro-Cade and anti-Cade, entirely misses the point. He’s 6’6” rookie guard that can control the tempo of an NBA game at age 20. Yeah, his shot selection has been spotty, particularly early on, but these types of players are rare.

Barnes and Mobley are awesome rookies, too. Enjoy.

I agree 100% but someone could argue Giddey does the same if not better and is younger, so this alone won't separate Cade. Along with what you said, he puts effort on both ends despite sheer burden of his role and is an elastic 3 level scorer and when you combine that all together then its hard not to see the rarity you speak of.

I like Giddey quite a bit, too. He just has more holes to fill than Cade.

Fun times.

Mobley is having quite the scoring performance against the Clippers. 23 points already through three quarters, might crack his first 30 point performance of the season.

Five years from now, Giddy will end up being by far the biggest surprise of this draft.

Best draft in NBA history? There’s a real possibility.

I don't think so. I don't see a future top 3 player of all time in this entire group. Great draft as far as depth goes but I'm not sure about absolute top-flight/true generational talent. We'll see though.

I actually think you are selling him short on potential. 45/36 would be a disappointing outcome, don't you think?

Yeah, there's a pretty good chance that nobody from this draft will be a Top 25 player of all time unless somebody gets really epic, but the depth and sheer number of starters and possible all-star players is pretty astounding.

Top is strong but not great. One player on trajectory to be NBA top 10 in Mobley, otherwise a strong cohort of low tier franchise players to all-stars.

Mobley is a top 5 defender in the NBA and now starting to produce efficient 30 pt games now that he's playing center and moved up in the offensive pecking orders.

It's Mobley and every one else is pretty far away.
