I agree Mavs should have gotten more picks. But, player wise AD is about as good as you get for Luka because I don't think teams would trade Jokic, SGA, or Giannis. Then again who thought Mavs would trade Luka.

If they’re the same age if makes a little more sense but AD is turning 32. Has maybe 2-3 good years left?

With Luka, you’re guaranteed 50 wins for the next decade and a shot at the championship. You’ll have a guy who is a top 3 mvp for the next 6-8 years.

It makes zero sense. There’s absolutely no justifiable reason for this trade

Kyrie not resigning with this team. Besides the new owners want to save money.

Guess we’ll find out if defence wins championships, Mavs lineup looks pretty solid.

So they need the 4 1sts that should have came along with this deal.

Trick question! AD only has one brow. He's DQ'd

It does when your players on the court . See ad can stay healthy but Irving having a goat season is what needed since teams are just going pack the paint

So I have a few questions:

1) Why did AD waive his trade kicker? That seems to indicate he'd rather play in Dallas?
2) Was this trade made because the GM was simply annoyed that Luka wasn't listening to him about staying in shape?
3) Why not let the entire league make offers? Was the GM afraid of it leaking and Luka derailing trade talks?

Dont get why AD is so obsessed with playing the 4. It will make him a less productive player nor has he really improved his range.

4) can a gm legally make a trade without owner sign-offs? like the only reason I'm not on the Nico is an idiot bandwagon is that he wouldn't have a job right now otherwise

Seems pretty clear the main reason was ownership didn't want to pay Luka that money.

He just shouted out realgm lol

Either way this dude thinks Luka is top 3 and honestly the mavs dont think Luka is top 3 - the mavs think AD is better than Luka -

People need to reevaluate their opinions OR Luka got something like Deshaun Watson level insanity -

The guys capeing up for Luka all say the same thing - which I agree but this is weird

AD is a top player still and on both ends. He'll do well in DAL. What's shocking is that they didn't shop Luka and how quick it went down. No leaks and no news that Luka or AD were unhappy. This doesn't happen. If DAL had decided to trade Luka no matter what, why would they not try to get a better deal? They 100% could've got more and to trade an asset like Luka without listening to offers is just nuts. The way it's happened and the secrecy around it is mental. I don't know anything about Nico but nobody is this stupid.

Yeah but honestly as you watch this play out - the players are saying Luka doesn’t take the offseason seriously -

I guess we gonna figure out that Luka is crazy lol

No way the Mavs did this if Luka ain’t a maniac

That's a very valid point and it'll have a big effect on his career. Problem of being too good too early and not having someone around to make you make that change. And many other greats have had that issue. Shaq/Harden come to mind. Tiers below them Jamal Murray always takes until February to get into the groove.

Luka is still a top 5 asset at 25y/o and not even trying for a better return is criminal.

There is 0% chance the owner didn't sign off on a trade of this magnitude

TIL Pelinka was Bryants agent and facilitated a deal with Nico to bring Bryant to Nike. This could be the, "time to return the favor" moment.
