He obliterated veteran Hassan Whiteside in the final exhibition game and pretty much just handed Stephen Adams his lunch . Those are 2 of the better defensive centers in the NBA.

Right now his athleticism and explosion are way down due to his downtime. We havent seen anything yet.

Im not sure there is a big man in the game right now beside Embiid comfortable enough to face the basket in the low post on the offensive zone. Only person who I see doing that right now is Embiid.

By end of year he will be the best center in the nba.

In 2-3 years he may be the best player in the nba.

   Settle down.

I know it's fun and somewhat commonplace among a few of the posters to regulate statements like that as pure delusion but if you've watched the kid at Kansas and you've seen the rate at which he progresses and just simply sponges the game its not that far-fetched of a statement for him to at least be in the conversation in some minds if Jo can stay healthy.

I don't think this time last year anybody was saying KAT would be a top 3-5 big already either but its more than a conversation now.

There's a huge difference between saying that he's going to be the best C in the league by the end of his ROOKIE year and saying that he has the potential to be the best Center at his prime. No one is taking KAT over AD, DeMarcus, or Drummond right now. However, it's widely accepted that he has the potential to be greater than them (arguable with AD).

It's a ridiculous claim to say that a rookie will be the best Center in the league based off his talents and one game. Not even Shaq was able to be the best Center in the league at his rookie year. I'm very high on Embiid and believe that he'll be the best big man in his time, but not now.

sounds like a difference in opinion. I'm not saying I'm of the belief that he'll be that guy after his rookie year but his track record for improvement combined with what he's capable of on the court coming to fruition would easily catapult him into the top spot in some minds.

Example as you've seen right before my post. You may not think KAT gets selected over the guys you mentioned but there are quite a few who would make that selection without hesitation.

Who would ever take Drummond over KAT?

I think it is an unfair comparison anyway because I thin that Drummond is a 5, and KAT is a 4.

That being said, KAT is much more talented than Drummond. Drummond is only a defensive player. Offensively he is devoid of skill and only scores off of his physical prowess.

Drummond is more comparable to Deandre Jordan or Ben Wallace. Players that dominate in certain facets of the game, but are incompetent in other facets.

KAT, AD, and Embiid are complete players.

Controversial opinion here, but I think I would actually take KAT over Drummond.

Edit: PS, Embiid is a beast

The exact opposite of this is true. Drummond actually has good touch around the rim, has some moves on the block and is developing solid footwork. His offensive game is definitely not devoid of skill, his development there has actually been very promising. His defense is actually what is most disappointing about his game, his understand of positioning, angles, help defense instincts and awareness isn't very good and his post defense is mediocre. He can be great at times but on the whole, he's a huge underachiever on defense.

Drummond is in his 5th year now and he's not comparible cause his skillset just isn't anywhere near a Towns or Embiid. We know what he is and that's a in the paint player who will most likely max out as AllStar role player. He's not capable of becoming a main option like some of the other top bigs. He can still get more efficient though and stick to what he's good at have a very nice career. These guys have superstar #1 option talent and potential that's not comparable. He's still capable of a lot more offensively then a Deandre Jordan though as he's also starting to become a face up scorer plowing his way to the rim.
