Wait until discovery process, when we learn the fake crying GM was using his PR apparatus to whip up the media and fans to pressure KD to return.
Okay this is my cue to log off for the night.
KD earns $65M per year now. Do the math over the life of rest of NBA career. Now add in how endorsements work for retired all-timers, ex. Jordan and Nike, Hanes, etc. Hundreds and hundreds of millions potentially lost. GSW treated him like livestock tonight. Heads need to roll.

That would be hard to believe. Recovery time for this kind of injury really varies on the tear itself and the athlete. It can easily be a 10-12 month injury.
I just googled it and got 6 months from multiple sources.
Right, and I'm not saying you're wrong. But it does vary. A lot of factors and it varies on the athlete too. Rehab is different for all athletes and some will have more trouble than others with the mental process. There's also the factor of if he opts out and signs a max contract with a new team, they won't be eager to rush back their new investment risking any future injury. I'm not a doctor but I think logically speaking if it's a full achillies grade 2/3 tear, it probably will be longer than 6 months before we see Kevin Durant back on the court for an NBA game.

Kinda makes me sadder as an NBA fan knowing that someone with this much skill & love of the game took the easy way out, tbh.

And still talking crap about the light years comment when we have made 5 finals in a row, won 3 out of the last 4 championships, have created a team that everyone seems to say is so good it destroyed competition and was unfair for the league. And then our ownership is privately funding a billion dollar arena? Who else has done those things?
And Bob Meyers? This guy is a good guy, a former agent who the players love. If you hear him talk you realize the humanity this guy has, and honestly so much of our team stresses how real life is more important that basketball, Kerr, Curry, Meyers, Klay, etc..
Meyers was there for Kerr when he was fighting through his back injury and always talked about his health before his coaching. This guy organizes a yearly trip to San Quentin prison to play basketball against the inmates and remind them people havent forgotten about them even with their histories. Even brought the championship trophy there.
This guy is a good guy, but people cant let go of rivalries and pettiness for even a minute to even see that. Pretty pathetic.
"Good guy" or not, anyone can f*** up.

Yep. From 9-figure super max to...$5M per year? All NBA to off the bench for 20 minutes?

Dominique Wilkins ruptured his Achilles and then averaged 30 the next year.
However, this is the only exception I know.

You see that with Kawhi he wouldn't be bullied/pressured into playing. He has guys like Uncle Dennis looking out for him.

He did and right now he looks terrible, no lift. However, it's been barely a year since it happened to him, so hopefully he'll get better with a pre-season and training camp. But, as injuries go it's the Krypotonite for NBA players.

He definitely would have made a difference in this series. I don't want to say GS would have won for sure but they were the favorites and were basically guaranteed an L tonight without the minutes he played.
Last 2 years, and especially last year, I don't think GS needed him to beat Cleveland, but in hindsight do they win a title if KD is not in the picture but on a different team that is stacked? people don't think about it this way but KD probably would have had at least a chip by now if he was on a different contender, like the Raptors, Wizards, or Blazers for example.
A chip for him was inevitable but going to the Warriors white washed the last 2 seasons.
I'll say it for you then: The Warriors would have absolutely won this series if he played.

I feel sorry for his inury, but the warriors without him breezed through the western conference, and can make this a 7-game series and potentially win it without him. His decision is still super weak, regardless of his current health.

I’m going to admit, I bought this explanation when I heard it about Looneys injury but the more I think about it the more it doesn’t make sense. You can ALWAYS injure something further that’s already injured.

What about DeRozan dawg?!?!

Just scary thinking how a non contact injury like this can destroy a player’s career. Gonna be weird not seeing Durant dominate while in his prime years. I wonder at this point does GSW even want to sign him to a long term max deal.

Cousins also tore his quad a month ago and is 300 lbs and out of shape. He shouldn't even be playing but rushed back to get a chance in the Finals. Before he tore his quad, Cousins had flashes of his former all-star ability with a string of great performances with the Warriors but has never really looked in great shape. Needs to spend the summer losing weight and getting fit. He should be able to come back strong wherever he ends up if he puts the effort in.
Anyways, I'm still praying Durant has a partial achilles tear or strain but it's looking like a full tear at this point. He shouldn't have been cleared and I don't even know what to say if its confirmed management and players pressured him to come back.

This is a common phrase trainers use with athletes. I've gotten it when I played in college. You gotta trust your body, I remember being rushed back from an MCL sprain and it was crazy how much that phrase was thrown around

Re: Has Kevin Durant's Achilles injury changed your view on his legacy with GSW?
No. I wasn't a big fan of his move to Golden State, but I didn't hate him for it. I think he got undue criticism for the move, and he has played really well with Golden State, improving his defense and playing superb in the playoffs. Those things matter. This injury doesn't change much for me - he's still an all-time great with some attitude issues, but that's ok - plenty of all-timers had attitude issues. Perhaps it's part of what drove them to be all-time greats.

Question for Amateur Doctors and Conspiracy Theorists
For all the people who are saying that Warriors somehow misled everyone about KDs injury and reported it as a calf strain rather than an achilles, please answer the following as I'm dying to know the truth.
What was reported:
1. Multiple MRIs were taken of the initial injury and reviewed by multiple parties
2. Decision to play was green lighted by all parties involved
Questions:
1. Did Warriors mess with the MRI results to make it look like a calf strain when it wasn't?
2. If the MRI results weren't doctored, did KD's team not have access to am independent doctor who could read those results, especially important because of the upcoming free agency?
3. If KD did have his owner doctor review the MRI, was that doctor pressured by the Warriors not to reveal the true risk of playing?
4. If doctor did report the risks to KD, how was KD pressured to play by an organization that he's probably leaving anyway?
