This looks similar to the French Open final, where Sinner looked like the better player, until the collapse. Can Carlos turn the tables again?

I've never really watched tennis before, but I'm enjoying Alcaraz vs Sinner

Sinner was banned for 3 months for steroids.

Tough day for the "there's nobody on Alcaraz' level" guys in here lmao, one of the more bizarre tennis takes I've seen on here. Even before today Sinner was the actual world #1, had won 3 of the previous 6 slams, and lost the French Open to Carlos in a 5th set tiebreak in one of the craziest matches in tennis history.

He’s now beaten Alcaraz on arguably Alcaraz’ best surface, won 4 of the last 7 slams, and his hold on world #1 is even stronger. And we’re now entering the HC part of the season, Sinner’s best surface.

alcaraz won't have the longevity to be goat. and he's too short to have the type of serve to carry him when his athleticism fades. great player tho, very entertaining you watch

Are the grass courts of Wimbledon something that were supposed to be an advantage for Sinner or Alcaraz? Do they have a type of court they are good on playing or are they equally good on all types.

Amazing player… the only thing that can stop him is injuries otherwise he’s at least a step ahead of sinner then there’s a massive gap until the next best player

Sinner seems much more likely to catch Djokovic to me than Alcaraz. Sinner was up 2 sets to 0 on Alcaraz at the French and dominated Alcaraz today on grass, and those are his weakest surfaces. Meanwhile Alcaraz has struggled to even make it past the QF in the recent hardcourt majors, losing to old man Novak at the AO and losing in the 3rd round last year at the US open. Considering 2/4 slams take place every year on hard court the rate at which Alcaraz is able to rack up a bunch of slams is going to be severely limited unless he greatly improves on hard court.

Sinner has won the last 3 hard-court majors, which makes his last 2 performances at the french and wimbledon even more impressive.

Sinner is on his level. And there will likely be other players coming up over the years that he'll also need to overcome.

Nahhh Sinner isn’t on Alcaraz level right now and the gap will widen next year and forward

Alcaraz biggest enemy is really that he doesn’t have anyone to compete against on his level

The details are that his trainer was using a banned steroid cream to treat a cut on his hand, then he rubbed his open wound over an open wound Sinner had on his leg, transferring the banned substance into Sinner's blood stream. The story is utter nonsense, like every other PED excuse escuse story. He was juicing.

We have 2 guys here who are tiers above the next grouping…I can’t see anyone else even coming close. It will have to be an up and comer who is unknown

WADA accepted his explanation, which is why he got off relatively easy.

https://www.mensjournal.com/sports/jannik-sinner-doping-scandal-ban-explained-after-steroids-test

According to Sport Bible, Sinner faced controversy when in March of 2024, “the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) found Sinner was inadvertently contaminated with the banned substance clostebol by his physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi during a massage.”

The New York Times reported that Sinner "twice tested positive for clostebol, a banned anabolic steroid, in March" of 2024.

The Times noted that the ITIA had found Sinner “bore no fault or negligence for those positive tests.”

A "controversial agreement" between Sinner's "legal team and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) officials" led to favoritism accusations and to "some players questioning their faith in clean sport," BBC reported. He ended up agreeing to a three-month ban, according to BBC.

BBC also noted that an independent tribunal cleared Sinner "of wrongdoing

Both sides of the Alcaraz/Sinner debate taken to the extreme are ridiculous. The “Alcaraz is levels above Sinner” stuff was dumb before today and the “Sinner > Alcaraz and it’s not even close” stuff today is just as dumb. The hyperbole both ways is exhausting.
