They might finish with the better record this season but trades aren't made just for one season. Lakers have secured their post LeBron future

I dont see how it works out for the Mavs imo.

AD isn't the offensive hub Luka is. Not even close actually. He's obviously a great two way player but he's also 31 years old whilst Luka is 25.

If Rob is wise he'll build around luka. He does it right and Luka stays healthy we are contending for years.

just more laughable rigging by a suspect league. Listen, AD instantly makes the Mavs better and a Finals contender while Luka doesn't do squat for the Lakers so short-term the Mavericks are golden and maybe for 3-4 more years. However, Luka is just entering his prime and will be the face of the Lakers rebuild (and the league) so only getting a future 1st is just so pathetic and obviously greased by the league.

Only explanation is that Luka's agent made it apparent to the Mavs FO and the Lakers FO that Luka would sign with LA in the summer of 2026. Otherwise a trade like this never happens. You just don't trade a guy who is 25 and a top 3-4 player in the NBA.

AD is great but he is 6 years older. One first (from a team with Luka on it) doesn't make up the difference
