I want them in 7 games to settle this once and for all-

The game was tied when Embiid and jokic came back in the 4th quarter— and Embiid went off and won the game- objectively - all things were equal apart from who’s gym they were in and Embiid out played The best player on earth- you gotta respect that Embiid came out and stood up to the challenge and that Jokic played hard as well-

It was a great honor to watch that - it’s like the opposite of what Booker did when he plays Luka. Then after the game he gave respect to the competitor KNOWING that winning a finals MVP trumps a MVP… especially if you already got two of them!

Embiid said and did the right things- respect that -

Also Philly looks better without harden-

And Denver STILL Will represent the west in the finals - will Embiid do this in the playoffs when it matters and meet big Joke- reining champion - in the finals or will he fail to keep his end of the bargain

The Harden trade was definitely good for Philly. The depth they got back was something that they've lacked for a long time. But I think Nick Nurse is a bigger reason Philly looks better. Doc Rivers was just a bad, bad coach.

The depth point is slightly overstated imo. Covington and KMJ are basically not playing, and Morris, whilst he’s been surprisingly ok, is going to be almost unplayable in the play offs. Batum is the only reliable play off level rotation player they got from that trade (plus the picks of course, which gives them the flexibility to make another move).

If Embiid stays healthy, they just need some decent contributions from Harris (I trust Melton, Batum and Maxey) and this team can win the east. Boston falls in love with the 3 and it can come and go very easily

^Philly has Oubre too. They have great depth. Idk why the Bucks keep being left out. The Sixers gotta go through Miami, Boston and Bucks to get to the Finals. They don’t have to play all three of them of course, but will see them in some combination.

Bucks have a clutch closer in Dame. Dame has shown up with game winners and a series winner in the playoffs. Who is the clutch closer on Philly? Embiid fails a lot in the clutch in the playoffs.

Embiid has yet to reach the 2nd round healthy. I wish he would forget any and all regular season accolades (except the all-star game) and that the team shoots only as high as a non-play-in playoff position, while the big fellow takes it easy. If I could watch Embiid go all out for just one injury free playoff run, I’d be a happy chappy.

I thought it would settle down after nuggets won it all last season but it didnt change a bit. Same would be after those finals. People have short memory.
They need to face each other.

Why? If Jokic somehow again makes it to the finals and Embiid doesn't, we still have to wait untill he does or retires?

Covington is injured, but he was in the rotation when he was playing. Also, I know not part of the trade, but the signing of Oubre has been great for Philly too.

Last year the Sixers bench rotation was Melton, Niang and Reed. Now the rotation is Batum/Oubre, Beverly, Reed, Covington, Morris.

And Nikola Jokic is the best player in the world (direct quote from Joel Embiid, your reigning MVP).

I'm glad we've at least got that agreed upon. I know I want the best player in the world on my team when it's playoff time.

Of the 9 DEN players who played, 3 of them had a positive plus minus. One was Jokic.

Of the 9 PHI players who played, 5 of them had a positive plus minus. None was Embiid.

"The others" won the game for PHI and lost it for DEN. Not a shock IMO.

I'm hesitant to rank Embiid at number one now. He's already missed ten games and it hasn't even been half a season yet. I think it's pretty likely he doesn't hit the game requirement to be eligible and even if he does and he ends up playing like 66 games, would he really be more valuable than someone like Shai who could end up playing ~75-78 games? For reference, Shai, Jokic and Giannis have all only missed 1 game each so far, that'll increase as they rest certain games near the end but none of these guys have the first seed tied off so they might not rest as much if their seeding is either under threat or they can fight for a higher spot.

In addition to that...saw some interesting numbers.

Embiid 2023-2024:

-29 total games played (74.4% of team games played)

By Quality Of Opponent (Opposing Team Winning %):

-Games Played Versus Teams Over .500: 11
-Games Played Versus Teams Under .500: 18

-Games Played Versus Teams Over .550: 11
-Games Played Versus Teams Under .450: 15

Jokic 2023-2024:

-41 total games played (97.6% of teams games played)

-Games Played Versus Teams Under .500: 21
-Games Played Versus Teams Over .500: 20

-Games Played Versus Teams .550+: 18
-Games Played Versus Teams .450 or worse: 14

Jokic has played in as many games vs. opponents at .550+ win % (Playoff teams) as Embiid has teams under .500 (Non-playoff teams).

If you want to know why Giannis should be MVP, go check out the Bucks game against the Cavs tonight.

Isn't Shai like top3 or even top2 in MVP race? But i get it, when a team can't hit an ocean and they lose, you could have a case for any player looking overrated.

The bucks without Giannis down by 40 to the cavs....it WAS a layup line and the Cavs were smiling like it was warmups

The Cavs are either the dream team or Giannis team minus him is a lottery team lol....

So somewhere similar to the blazers with a older dame

Losing by 40 is the product of high variance play (42 three pointers), which sadly is becoming all too common in the NBA.

Couple nights ago there were 3 games on where a team as down 40 (!) - wtf is going on

Embiid is on pace for the best statistical season in nba history. If he meets the requirements he will win the mvp.
