Not really. They didn't win the Olympics 90% of the time.

In the amateur years, they won it 9 out of 12 times. That is 75%.

In the professional years (NBA players included), they won it 7 out of 8 times. That is 87.5%

Overall, they have won it 16 out of 20 times. That is 80%.

They have not won it at 90% rate, even historically, when the other teams were a lot worse than they are now.

LOL. Okay still dominated the competition. LOL

Got a source brother? Not saying it's not the case, just curious.

FIBA is the source. Per FIBA's press releases:

2010 FIBA World Cup had more attendance, more TV viewers, and more revenue than the 2008 FIBA Olympics.

2014 FIBA World Cup had more attendance, more TV viewers, and more revenue than the 2012 FIBA Olympics.

2019 FIBA World Cup had more attendance, more TV viewers, and more revenue than the 2016 FIBA Olympics.

And FIBA has complete control and doesn't have to contend with the IOC or countries engaged with ****. France is the first country since China to host that won't have to worry about their team qualifying for the Olympics.

This isn't a problem to be solved. There are always going to be guys who skip. That's just how it is. Like I'm not going to criticize a guy for not wanting to work during his time off.

Are we allowed to have overtime in games or are they gonna go on strike?

If you got told because of how good you are, your holidays were to be removed for you to work extra.

How would you react?

Even if it’s representing your country, it’s their choice if they don’t want to. I also think someone riding off the NBA finals and playing as many games as Jokic did, makes sense for him to actually want to rest up.

The only way you would see a uptick is if the season was shortened.
After your first, you change, you mature, you dont just jump into things.

After getting dunked on for the first time, life becomes complex.

Me? How would I react? I would kill to have holidays SINCE FRIGGIN JUNE, even if I wasnt making GAZILLIONS OF DOLLARS to play a GAME that I love and I don't even consider it to be "work". I would actually PAY to go and watch the world cup on my holidays, let alone play in it.

But that's just me :D

True true, at the end of the day, it's down to the players. Some won't have the competitive fire like Jordan/Kobe, some will just want their millions and rest and some are just not patriotic enough. So this is a FIBA problem, not an NBA problem.

Same thing happened with a Bucks assistant coach who joined the Greek NT coaching staff when Giannis was playing
Worked out well for all parties.

I was just halfway joking about him because he is playing for China, who is a sworn enemy of American values.

Those tv numbers are complete BS. It is impossible to measure global tv viewership in any sport.

In terms of revenue and attendance, I am curious if those are total numbers or average per game. World Cup has way more games so it's easy to see why the attendance would be higher. FIBA tries to push world cup for their own interest, so I don't trust one thing they say. Until we have a detailed breakdown and proof those numbers are completely meaningless

Great to see the American rejects (KAT, sort of, doesn't fit what they want to do in Team USA, but perhaps the first star to choose another flag?) play for another country they are affiliated with. Hope to see more of these over the next few years simply for a higher competitive level of the "other" countries. If you are not sure to be tapped by the American NT (What? Be Top 30 in that nation? A tough ask) it's best to play up that pride factor that you can beat Team USA even if you're just playing for a ragtag team like the Dominican Republic. That's more impressive for me that joining "Super (US) Team" and your brand and play might actually improve more.

That said, which other dual citizens (American - Other Nationality) have still not played for the US senior team and can be pirated?

Recent ones (which the US managed to protect from being poached) are;

Reaves (Germany?)
Banchero (Italy)

In future international competitions, i hope what KAT did will inspire others to be a traitor to the US :D

Towns situation is different from those other two though. He already played with the national team and the media has constantly been on him about joining the team, whereas Banchero never played with the Italian team, despite showing willingness to do so.

As for Reaves, most Germans are/were unaware of him as a potential option for the team. I think he'll be an excellent FIBA player, but he doesn't necessarily have what the team desperately needs. The Germans have Schroder, Lo and Wagner which is really good for European perimeter player standards, also helps that Euro perimeter play is probably at an "all time" low right now.

It's crazy how Dirk was surrounded by scrubs and now the team can't even get two NBA role players (kleber and Hartenstein) to join the team due to personal feuds, egos, lack of interest etc.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.
