Melo sounds butthurt that the Knicks don't want him, in his eyes.

I'm hearing from my sources that Denver want the Nets to take Al Harrington contract, But the Nets don't want it.

I don't know why Denver keeps changing the deal?

Edit: yep I was right. http://www.sportingnews.com/nba/feed/2010-08/carmelos-contact/story/al-harringtons-deal-reportedly-an-obstacle-to-carmelo-trade

He probably read Amare's quotes about not wanting to add anybody. And the belief that Amare wants to be "the man."

LINK

LOS ANGELES - Amar'e Stoudemire has said publicly that he'd love to see the Knicks acquire Carmelo Anthony, but not everyone who has played with Stoudemire believes him.

"Amar'e will embrace any teammate, but if it were up to him, I know he'd rather just see the Knicks stay the way they are," says a former Suns teammate, who requested anonymity.

"Amar'e likes being the guy. He likes the players that are around him. I know he's thinking, 'Why would we want to change this?'

"I don't think he's going to be that upset if the Knicks don't get Carmelo, I'll tell you that."

On Friday, Stoudemire said of the Knicks, "We don't really need much." That doesn't sound like a franchise player pleading with the front office to make a move.

The Nets are in serious talks with the Nuggets to acquire Anthony, who would first have to agree to a contract extension with New Jersey before a deal would be finalized.

i've met STAT and he's an a-hole, but no way he would deny someone that would make the team significantly better.

He of all people should know that the Miami trio would be hell to beat, not to mention Celtics, Bulls and the Magic, besides he went to NY thinking that he would play with James or Wade.

And people always make rumours that X player would be disgruntled if Y player comes and disrupts the team.

Knock it off with attacking/baiting posters. If you don't like the news they're posting than move on to the next post.

The elephant in the room this whole time has been Denver's lux tax. They are 13 mil over so if they got under it'd save them close to 30 mil

This is why Billups and Rip were included. It doesn't have anything to do with their play, Melo would've been OK with Harris and Morrow in their spots. It's because the only two ways to cut that much salary off Denver is a) Find a capspace/TPE team to be a 3rd party b) Move so much contract that the 125% rule covers the 10-13 mil. They couldn't do the first so they went to the second idea. New Jersey is taking on like 44 million in this trade, which means they can take back 35, saving Denver 9 mil. Detroit is taking on an extra 3 mil on their end with the 125% rule

That's 12 of the 13 mil gone. So Den is probably tinkering that cut that last mil... or they just want to deal Harris right now, otherwise they have to wait 30 days or deal him alone. They can't get someone like Batum for Harris alone, so if they want to deal they better do it now
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

Cut J Smitty a break...He's a little frustrated and took his anger out on the wrong person.

If Denver is looking to Dump Harrington and flip Harris then they are clearly in full re-build mode. They'll be lucky to win 25 games next year if Nene and JR walk too.

not bad for an on the fly rebuild though. If they can flip Harris for a young , serviceable player like Batum then thats a good start to a new beginning.

They would be a lot more well off than most teams losing their franchise player in year 1.

I still think Melo should finsih the season strong with Denver and then sign outright with NYK, but obviously thats not the best financial decision.

Getting Favors, Devin Harris, plus TWO first round draft picks (including the Nets pick which should be a good pick)... honestly that's a very good haul for a star player who is for sure leaving at the end of season who has veto power (via not signing the extension) over trades.

Geez Denver, wtf is wrong with you? DO IT ALREADY!

Nets would likely take Harrington and Balkman if it was only a two team trade (without Billups). Actually it has been reported they would, but them taking on Hamilton and Billups gives absolutely no reason to take even more bad contracts.

Oh sure, sarcasm is so harmful.

But anyway, that had nothing to do with me not liking the info he posted. It was the fact that I have a huge pet peeve for people who claim to have 'sources' and use it to get attention. I know I'm not the only one, especially given the fact that 90% of this Melo drama (and every other 'rumor') is based on a bunch of people making up stuff, and saying they heard it from 'sources.' Particularly someone who claims to have 'sources' and then gloats about being right about something, when that info was already available by major media sources the night before.

But I guess since people don't have to take responsibility for the things they say online anymore, it's perfectly reasonable allow that sort of activity, over a little sarcasm.

I heard from a reliable source that RealGM, HoopsWorld/Hype are holding this deal up because once it goes through they'll loose web traffic.

I wonder if they can trade Hoopshype for Nene.

haha traffic... haha Hoopshype.

that site is a mess. People say its good but just by observing the general board you can tell its a bunch of intramural kids discussing sports and then a few real deal posters, but not many.

Signs are pointing that the deal is more likely to get done (Melo to NJ) than not. The extension will not be signed prior to the trade but more than likely after he's in NJ, which IMO is a huge risk.
