Rookie ladder thing is literally just one dudes thing. The guy who writes it just picks who he wants where he wants, idk why people care about it so much

Mobley quietly puts up 24/9/4 last night while shooting 11/16 from the field.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

This class is so much fun. Cunningham, Green, Mobley, Giddey, Wagner, Barnes all have shown various levels of excellence.
Then you got guys like Duarte, Sengun, Hyland, Herb Jones, Robinson-Earl, Mitchell, Dosunmu who definitely belong.
Boston, Banton and most of the second rounds guys are quality players in their own right.
Yurtseven - yet another developmental gem by the best UDFA scouting squad in the NBA.
And I still believe in Jalen Suggs.

Jalen Suggs will have better career than lot of players you mentioned

I currently have money on Mobley + Barnes and will probably need to pick which one to ride to the end of the season sooner rather than later. I can cash out on either at this stage for double my investment.
Franz + Giddey look promising with Cade as another potential dark horse.
NBA Rookie ladder has Franz at the top - any weight to that?
Considering the month that Franz had? Yes.
I don't think it will stay that way though as the magic were missing a ton of players and Franz got to be the focal point of the offense (and did it VERY efficiently). Unfortunately, I don't see that to keeping up as guys like Cole and Ross are going to want their possessions/shots.
In short, I don't expect Franz to have the opportunity to win ROY due to his role.
Same case with Barnes I think, OG and Siakam returning is taking away his touches

Even when he posts an NBA record and a monster triple double, there still comments like “but xyz...”
Super weird considering his output, style of
play, upside and age.
He’s a young Jason Kidd.
Think it's more the fact he plays for OKC so there isn't much interest. This whole thread is basically Raptors, Cavs and Magic fans arguing the toss, with the odd mention of Cunningham.
There's been plenty of nice rookie performances that aren't getting much mention in here. For example, Aaron Wiggins is averaging just shy of 17/6 on 58% shooting the last five.

Tbh even though I still have Barnes as the ROTY front-runner currently, I doubt he wins the award. He's just surrounded with too much talent, now that the team is healthy, to continue putting up the numbers that he has up until now. You got 3 all-star level players in Siakam, OG, & FVV and then there's a guy like Trent who averages 16ppg and is a high volume scorer.

It'll probably be more valuable for his development to learn how to play winning ball and make some noise in the playoffs.LoveMyRaps wrote:Tbh even though I still have Barnes as the ROTY front-runner currently, I doubt he wins the award. I also think he's in a good place to put up numbers. Some of the other rookies are getting teams best defender and being double-teamed.

really solid, efficient scoring game from Cade today in a big win on the road over one of the best teams in the league. It's always more fun to see a rookie make big plays in a win. Came through with 2 clutch buckets in the last couple of mins of the 4th to seal the win.

Cade's game will explode once he gets better teammates (= better spacing).
Detroit has a really bad roster, maybe the worst in the entire NBA.
They have to tank hard and get 1 or 2 more high picks (and nail them, obviously).

Good read as to why Franz should win ROY.

Barnes cannot be ROY front-runner as he has not win any ROM award yet. You can say he is in the running but he has to start winning some ROM awards if he is a serious competitor.
Barnes's best chance to win ROM was OCT/NOV when he got lot of opportunities since Siakam was injured and when Siakam comes back then OG got injured plus Cade was injured. In fact in those months Barnes took advantage of those opportunities and was ahead of Mobley in all categories Pts, Rebounds, Assists but still lost ROM to Mobley which was a big shock.
Now Siakam and OG are back so Barnes will be 5th option on Raptors team behind Fred, Siakam, OG and Trent. He might as well say good bye to his ROY dreams if he has any.
