The alternatives to Kyrie are way way worse, KD and him can still contend.

They should. Imagine going through this **** next offseason?

0% chance the Nets look to trade him now.
Definitely a chance they trade him. First good offer and he's gone. They didn't need to kick him while he was down with the Woj tweet but they did anyway.
But we just got a glimpse of his market. Teams in good standing don't want him. If he does play well, the Nets won't trade him. If he misses 25 games for some odd reason, no one will want him.
The Nets are kind of stuck.

What leverage exactly? Didn’t realize he needed leverage in order to opt in to a player option…
Leverage to make the Nets think that he actually had other options that would force the nets to offer him a max deal.
No one said he needed leverage to exercise his opt in lol. He’s exercising his opt in because he has no leverage to demand anything more.

Nets will still need two important things to playoff hoops and winning: defense and rebounding.

You dont realized the moment they move Kyrie kd is gone. Nets dont hate Kyrie its marks and newbie nash vs team kd and Kyrie power struggle. Theres no such thing as alternatives for kyrie esp if they release him. They cant even add a single player over cap.
Doncic will be goat. Lauri will be his sidekick.

At the end of the day, I'm not entirely sure I can blame him (green is good, and if Nets get it together, they may actually be able to challenge for a title next season).
Still -- Lebron + AD + Kyrie would have been a formidable trio. Waive RW.
Its better to take the money and riot so he gets traded for RW. RW is best friends with kd so they can reunite a win a ring. No reason for Kyrie to be desperate when he can go to any team when ever he wants. I want everyone traded for mavs too.
What?!

Lakers have 2 first rounders to trade. Like i said, a lot of people are gonna be disappointed if/when this happens. If Kyrie has a legit threat of just walking away, then expiring salary filler+2 1st rounders is far, far better than the alternative. Easy for everyone to see where Kyrie is being irrational, but this would be the Nets FO being irrational
How'd that go again chief?
youre a weirdo. Kyrie decided to stay and youre gloating? Look at what i wrote. All full of "if Kyrie decides to leave"

Well now he gets 30M and lives in his head which some would consider La La Land.

they played alright D 2 years ago and were concerning enough last year that the Bucks gave up homecourt advantage to avoid them. They're still a scary duo, maybe Ben Simmons decides to play next season too.
the alternative is just the sucking for years without any clear path forward idk how anybody would want that

Simmons, Durant and Irving fit perfect on the court. Talent remains not the team's issue.

ESPN should hire you and Paul Pierce to be analysts for games.

Y not?
Simmons can create for them by attacking the basket
Use him a bit like Draymond, but Kyrie and KD dont move off ball like Curry and Klay
Very good defender

It was either Kyrie signs for $6 million or Kyrie stays in Brooklyn.
Your scenario of the Lakers trading filler + 2 FRs for Kyrie was never going to happen because the Nets never believed Kyrie would opt out.

Probably but not necessarily.
Reasoning for why a team might find Kyrie on his one year player option deal more attractive than a long term deal:
- Teams don't want to commit to Kyrie for multiple years. On his 1 year, if he plays nice, they own his bird rights. If not, bon voyage.

Re: Shams: Kyrie Irving opting in
This is probably best case scenario for Nets. They didn't cave and give Kyrie a max. They're guaranteed to get Kyrie's best effort next year.
This is also the best scenario for every other team in the NBA that avoided offering him a max deal. Kyrie with a guaranteed five year is a Kyrie who is guaranteed to jerk a franchise around.
And as much as I dislike Kyrie I hope he turns it around. He's been wasting time for a half decade. Hopefully he takes the lack of interest from other teams as a sign that he needs to take his career seriously. If he had behaved normal since 2017, Brooklyn would have gotten offers from every big market club in the NBA and he would have his 1/4 billion contract.
