They would really be foolish to consider this, Chandler's just a younger and better player.

Chandler won't be a Knick next season. Fernandez would. Sounds like a good trade to me.

You don't turn down trading nothing for something.

how you know Chandler is LEAVING after this season..

Gasol was one of the very best players in the league, while Rudy is a useless liability.

Then again,
Wilson Chandler's PER last season was 13.7, the peak of his career.

So the whole trade is about as exciting as those old debates on the ESPN boards between Marcus Banks and Luke Ridnour.

Wilson plays defense.

Knicks dont play defense.

You've clearly never watched Toney Douglas on the court. Give him minutes, he's a DPOY candidate.

and Gallo's D is underrated. He's at least an average PF on D, perhaps above average. Jeffries was always solid at D and Wilson's always been good.

Dantoni's SSOL style doesn't focus on D, but individual players certainly pay D. The Knicks were clearly better on D with Wilson on the floor than they were with Al Harrington on the floor.
Go Knicks!! Go Mets!!

As for the Jets . . . just keep it entertaining.

Like David Lee, Chandler's contract is coming due at the wrong time. The Knicks have room for a Max, or almost a max next year. To have that cap space, they have to renounce rights to chandler.

While it's always possible that Melo will go somewhere else and NY won't be able to sign or sign and trade for anyone of value, the safe bet is that they use that cap space for more interesting players than Wilson.

:falloff:

Why would a DPOY candidate only play 19 MPG?

I loved Toney's D at FSU, but DPOY candidate is a bit much. Guy definitely busts his ass on that end of the floor though.

I wonder how long this will drag on?

Portland wants a pick for obvious reasons....

Chandler has unusual value. From a talent standpont, he is worth more than a late first rounder....but from a contract standpoint, he isn't worth that. Portland wants NY to trade Chandler for a mid-first round pick, then exchange that pick for Rudy. Rudy isn't worth that mid-round pick....and NY would simply be better off keeping the mid-first they got for Chandler.

The main problem is that few teams will trade a mid-first round pick for Chandler when he is about to become a restricted free agent, and there is a chance he could be had for the full MLE as a free agent anyway.

The secondary problem is that Portland needs to look at the teams that have picks in the "range" they want. What teams are projected to be drafting between the late lottery and 7th/8th seeds that are also willing to give up their first round pick for Rudy?

Maybe NY can send Chandler to Houston in order to get their 2012 pick back....then....NY could move the 2011 pick to Portland for Rudy? But is seems like Houston would get over on NY again in that scenario.

He's never going to win DPOY, Dwight has that locked up. But from a positional standpoint, I don't know any pgs that I can say are clearly better than Tony D. Yeah some guys might gamble and get more steals but Tonys defense is definitely a throwback to a different generation.

I'm sure Cho is waiting for the Rudy to play in the world games....hoping to raise his trade value.

That is the only move that makes sense.

Rudy sat out the last game with a sore back, but he will play against the US at 3:00 p.m. EST today.
