This trade is much better for the Clips than Cavs. Mo is a steady shooter from the 3pt area and midrange. Something Baron will never be as a player and Clips needs shooting.

The Cavs got a lottery pick out of this...how did they not get the better end? The Clippers clearly made this trade to save as much money as possible for the summer of 2012. It's like that idiotic trade that NY did with Houston a while back when they traded Jared Jeffries.

Maybe the Clips are trying to clear as much cap space as they can for a run at either Paul or Deron Williams or D12 in 2012.

It would put the Clips at 26 million in salaries. (could be less if they don't extend the QO to Aminu or Bledsoe)

The CBA is still in question, who knows what the cap will be then, but if it's in the 60 mil range, the Clippers in theory could sign Howard and Deron Williams in 2012, and pair them with Griffin and Eric Gordon.

Then again, I'm not sure if Donald Sterling is willing to pay for a winner like that.

Mo Williams has an early termination option on his contract for next season. So Technically they are getting rid of barons 14million for an expiring in Mo williams. No way he is picked up for that much money.

Good move for the clips.

It's Mo that can decide to opt out of his contract. And he won't.

I hope you realize an early termination option is the player's option and not the team's...

If this is for the CLippers unprotected first rounder then this was actually a good deal for Cleveland. They could draft 2 young players for their rebuild this season. The Davis contract would be tough to swallow, but he will come off the cap right around the time they are ready to be respectable again.

WOW, Clippers are idiots. WTF why do they trade their first rounder this year? Regardless of protection, Baron for Mo isn't worth the pick. THEY BOTH HAVE THE SAME YEARS LEFT ON THEIR DEALS!

mo expires a year earlier, davis has a 14 million eto for 2013

Nope, Mo has an ETO this summer and a player option next summer assuming he stays next year. No way he gives up money in either option.

It's not too bad for Cleveland, first round draft pick aint bad, and Baron Davis (4 years ago) is a better pg than Mo Williams whose a small sg. **** it though. Cleveland is so bad right now, who gives a ****. Baron Davis obesity/suicide watch is a nice side plot. Who knows though, maybe he needs a situation like this to pick himself up. Who am I kidding, at least they got the draft pick though.

I don't get why the clips do it though. Whose their pg now?

I just don't know if it's worth it to take Baron on unless that lotto pick winds up as Kyrie Irving.

It's not that Baron is a bad player for the Clippers, it's that he'll be a bad player for any team outside of Cali, NY or possibly select contenders.

That's a lot of years of disgruntles player who will eat cheese steaks all day and forget how to tie his cross trainers when he isn't happy.

you're right, don't see this as good from the clips perspective then, a few bucks and a point guard upgrade? downgrade? I don't even know.

Cavs need to sign Jerome James and Curry in the offseason and create the fattest most apathetic team ever

Mo Williams is a downgrade from Baron Davis, IMO.

There HAS to be a top 5 protection on this pick at the very least. There HAS to be!

If there is, can the Clippers even roll the pick over, since they might owe OKC their own pick the next year.

Don't be surprised if Baron refuses to report like Alonzo Mourning did with the Raptors. Cleveland needs all the help it can get, so even though 2011 is suppose to be the worst draft since 2000, maybe they get lucky and get a Kyrie Irving and Sullinger or Perry Jones to start their rebuilding process. Baron must feeling like someone who lost the mega millions lotto ticket. He goes from a young and exciting team in his home town to the worst team in the league, with a coach he hates.

Right now the Cavs would be able to snag Terrence Jones and Kyrie Irving if the draft goes according to DraftExpress.com's big board and use the current standings.

I'll take that.
