Exactly. Unfortunately, most users here do not speak German and thus cannot read the article. If they were able to, they would understand that there's nothing racist about it.

The only bad thing about that article is the poor choice of a title, but then again, the word "ghetto" doesn't have any racial implications in Germany, and the article wasn't written for an American readership.

That's actually what the article is saying. The NBA invited a dress code in order to get approval from the mostly white US society. In essence the author is critizing the latent racism in the U.S.

The NBA made an effort to introduce a dress code in order to get rid of that image. The terms also refers to streetball, in which the individual has even a bigger impact. Unlike college basketball or the FIBA style in which the team game is the more important thing. That is meant with the term "ghetto basketball", not the skin color per se.

That isn't racist, and the author even said that it is sad that the skin color makes a difference how the majority of the US-AMERICAN people perceive the NBA players. That is not the opinion of the author that the skin color makes the difference.

Having travelled all over, Europe is much more racist towards immigrants and black people. Atleast in the US its somewhat hidden. In Europe people say things openly that would get them fired here. You also have right wing anti immigration parties that would never pass muster here. And before people start posting articles, its one man's opinion. Racism exists here too but its worse in Europe IMO.

Its a stupid article anyways. Dirk has a black girlfriend. Lebron, Wade and Bosh arent ghetto at all. If anything guys like Deshawn Stevenson were "ghetto" so to speak. Some would include Jason Terry too.

I speak german and i read the original article. Its one of the worst articles i've ever read.


The worst part in that article was the writer criticizing Wade and James for not being great shooters. They said that most american players learn how to shoot in college, and LeBron didnt even go to college. How about Wade dear writer? He went 4 years to college. Then the writer goes on and says that the european system is much better and the fact that there were 2 frenchmen, a serbian and Dirk on that team proves it. Mahinmi is the anti-fundamental, Roddy B is all about his speed and Peja is a washed-up 3-point-specialist... and all those 3 guys didnt play. Dirk is something special, and it has nothing to do with him being from europe.

My grandfather was in WW2. All black squadron which was part of the 1st Americans to reach the concentration camps. He said that Germans at that point had never seen black ppl before and that the Germans actually thought that black men had tails b/c they thought they were monkeys. He said the ppl would ask them where are your tails and that they were dead serious.
