The Lakers didn't draft Kobe. The NETS were going to draft Kobe, and he told them no way would he play for them, and forced his way to LA using the Hornets. The Lakers were gift wrapped Kobe because they were "the Lakers" so try again on that misfit. Because those are the facts. Nobody cares about the Lakers anymore. People are sick of the bull #$%^ that has allowed them to win title after title for so many years. This is probably the last CBA without a franchise tag or a hard cap, so enjoy your last few years of having players fall in to your lap. But obviously the owners are sick of it, 25/30 teams shouldn't be "The Washington Generals" as Gilbert stated. There should be an even playing field. Just because a player wants to go to LA doesn't mean he should be able to force his team to move him there. Especially if that player is under contract. This is out of control. Good for David Stern. (I can't believe I just typed that)

Come on guy - that original trade was straight garbage for the Hornets - trading an MVP caliber player for 2 32+ yr players and Kevin Martin, a guy who's done very little in his career yet is being paid like he's an All Star player....

That trade made zero sense for the Hornets if they're starting over, which is exactly what they'd be doing by trading Paul - a mid 30 win team with big money tied into non-difference makers on their own is not an attractive sell to a potential new owner...any owner looking to purchase the Hornets without Paul will be looking for a very flexible cap with reasonable contracts - not exactly what they were getting in return for Paul - having a couple of late 1st rounders thrown in the resubmitted trade was laughable...stop buying into the media hype - they all wanted to see Paul+Kobe with a chance at adding Howard too - much bigger story than anything else that could happen - that's why all these columnists and beat writers are up in arms about this veto and making Stern out to be some kind of tyrant...bravo to Stern for flushing this garbage deal down the toilet.

Dude what are you talking about? The deal WAS accepted...If it wasn't, I wouldn't have had a problem. But this deal WAS accepted on.

it takes 2 owners to accept a deal (well in this case 3) sorrybut one them didnt like it. thats the breaks. Bobcats and Toronto had a trade agreed to by GMs just like this, but MJ nixed it at the last minute. Deal with it

Let's go over the players NO was receiving in the CP3 trade.

Kevin Martin, in the 2009-10 season was traded for an expiring contract. Has no value and is the worst defensive SG in the league. Empty stats.

Lamar Odom. Bench player making starter money.

Luis Scola. Over 30, bench player making starter money. Stats have increased every single year since Houston went from a playoff team to a lottery team.

Laker fans need to buzz off. It's only a "good" deal because CP3 refused to be traded to any team other than the Lakers. Now that the NBA has said that that crap will not fly we will see the Hornets get a real offer that isn't built around 30 year old bench players.

Honestly, people are just not caring because it's the Lakers and the hate for this team is massive. Had this happened to any other team other than the Heat or Celtics, everybody would be wondering what is going on in the NBA

No, some people here are actually ignoring what the media is trying to feed us by making Stern look like a tyrant for putting an end to this circus of a trade...Paul in LA with possibly Howard coming along is big time $$$$$ for media outlets - they were drooling for this more than anyone - and yes, they have the power to make whoever they want look like the villain. This trade made ZERO sense for a rebuilding Hornets team looking for a new owner - money tied into players like Scola and Martin with little to no youth coming back for an MVP caliber player - straight garbage.

Uhhh cry more child. Your team wasn't gift wrapped Chris Paul for a salary dump. The Lakers should have never gotten Gasol. That trade was dirty, it should have never happened, just another favor to LA< and this is your backlash. The owners aren't going to let it happen again. Go draft a super star, or clear cap space to sign one like every other team.
