Wojo put it right.

Ray grew up with a military background. Respects authority, disciplined, calm.

Rondo is new school, not big on authority, moody.

I think Rondo acts like a punk, but that is part of what makes him great. If he didn't have that attitude, he would not be as good.

Key for him is to figure out how to deal with that attitude and get along well with other people.

Someone compared him with Kobe. I think that is a pretty good comparison.
Thank you Nico!

Rondo is a great player.
Hes a horrible person.

Honestly, I feel the Boston Celtics shouldn't cater to him and use him to help rebuild after KG contract is up.

When Doc Rivers goes, so should Rondo. Rondo won't respect another coach in Boston.

He needs to be dealt once the Celtics feel their Window has closed.

Rondo just isn't a "Boston Celtic" type guy.

Agreed. If he played selfishly, and with less bbiq then I could see these complaints being valid. You want players that hate losing. I wish more elite players were like Rondo.

^Yes, it's not possible to hate losing while still respecting your teammates and holding yourself just as accountable as them.

I don't understand why this thread was started now. I thought it was pretty clear from Woj's article that Woj was blaming Ray Allen. The only issue I have with Rondo is that he doesn't have the worlds gretest work ethic off the court, i.e coming late to practice/shoot-arounds. I think a lot of the other stuff is as much the big 3 as Rondo. Our whole team is a bit on the unpleseantside when it comes with interacting with others. Also in retrospect Rondo was right to criticize the big three. AS someone who watched all the games ,it took them a LONG time to hand him the reigns to the team. We had to put up with years of stuff like RAy Allen and Pierce bringing the ball up the court instead of Rondo with rondo barking at them to give him the ball, and watching those two turn it over 40% of the time (closer 70%) for Ray. Rondo deserves flak, but he wasn't the only guy. And at the end of the day it almost never carried over to the court (the only time being post-perk trade).

Hopefully Doc Rivers never leaves. Im not upset about Ray leaving. He was great for Boston but i think hell fall apart bone spurs and all in Miami. Im excited for Avery Bradley if he can shoot the ball a little bit better hes going to be a real good player.
Now for Rondo hes the guy your screaming , cursing at the TV for 1 quarter , you suck, but by the end of the game hes going to the hall of fame. He doesnt play hard all the time but when he does he effects the game more than anyone on the court. He probably can be a douche. But how many examples do we have of great players not getting along Magic Karreem Kobe Shaq. And ultimately Dennis Rodman for all the BS you had to put up with he won and thats all that matters.

Sports Illustrated noted that Allen wasn't fond of being corrected/given orders by a guy so much younger. That hardly falls on Rondo. This isn't to cleanse Rondo of ALL douchiness, but some of this has to fall on the prideful and increasingly pouty Allen.

“When it comes to basketball, Rondo is the smartest player on the team – one of the smartest players in the league,” one locker-room source said. “And Ray considers himself a smart guy. But at some point, it became hard for Ray to be corrected by a guy so much younger than him.”

Rondo is one hell of a player though. I love his arrogance. He's like the anti bromance type of player from the 80's/90's, and theNBA needs more of these type of competitors nowadays...

I think it needs to be said that competitors get pretty heated at times. It's nothing personal, but sometimes you just get really passionate about the game and what's going on.

KG and Pierce both seem to love the dude. Ray's been having troubles with him since the word "go," but that's not reflective of the idea that Rondo is a "cancer." It's not stopped the Celtics from being competitive and they've been together for a half-decade at this point, which is a long time. Sometimes, personalities clash. They've mostly kept it quiet and in-house, but it happens and when you have specific goals and fail to meet them, then all the little stuff starts to get in the way.

*shrug*

Rondo's a mouthy little bastard, but he's a talented, competitive mouthy little bastard and he's no worse in that regard than many other guys who were considered team players and all that stuff.

He's no cancer.

Both Rondo and KG are some of the more unlikable players in the league, even by their own peers. That locker room was bound to clash. And its like the C's do damage control since nearly everyone there is described as a 'great teammate', which they probably are to a certain extent, but that's not the whole story.

But I don't agree these attitudes are necessary or conducive to winning especially long term (unless you've got like GOAT-level talent to back it up), you really don't want to have chemistry issues that rise up in the playoffs. That's why you see coaches and vets take Rondo aside. Imo Team USA gave Rondo the bull personal excuse story to leave the premises and forget about international basketball, we won't be seeing this guy rep USA

Hang on Doc, next year's going to be a blast. Great players, great <insert job title here> can be tough to work with. Rondo's not a team cancer, though once his performance starts to drop in a few years he'll be made to look like one, listing non-stories like this as 'proof' at the end of every new article written. You still can't write 'Ron Artest' in an article without somebody bringing up Indiana. It's all for the sake of a story. Hopefully Rondo learns from AI's mistakes; their attitudes aren't terribly dissimilar.

I'm guessing the press will be all over Jet to see if there are any 'issues'. It's actually the press that's the cancer IMO. So what if maybe these questions from the press get asked coincidentally after an argument the previous night between the reporter and his wife\SO? Should we all be asking about that? Maybe said reporter wants to be the next Skip (though I can't imagine why). I'd love it if the NBAPA (or anyone really) ranked the national press on a few factors like BBIQ, whether they're a positive or negative team-wise, etc etc. The only issue I had with Rondo last year was the ref bumping. The other stuff was just life. We're pretty quick to label players cancers but really - its the reporters that turn minor things into big ones. Are they the cancers? Noo, they're just the sun. K.

who can defend this clown? he's a cocky, arrogant prick. Overrated to the max, when the final big two bounce, he will go to padding his stats on a bad team, media influence is not needed to know what type of guy he is. anyone who hoops knows his type, his a dick and unpleasant to be around

How can you say Rondo is "overrated to the max"? I think everybody realizes his flaws and what he needs to improve on. On the other hand, he makes his teammates better, and is easily a top point guard, no question.
