Re: San Antonio waives Stephen Jackson
In all honesty, what did they really need him for?
He avg 6 pts in 20 mpg on 37% FG and 27% 3FG
The report says there was in-fighting going on involving him. With that kind of production, its not worth the trouble keeping a malcontent if you are about to embark on a playoff run.
The move makes sense, but I guess Spurs can't rehabilitate everyone like ppl think..

Kobe vs MJ "Clone Wars" NBA.com video:

For Christ sake, this guy is a total scrub. Why is this so surprising? Look at his production this year, It's flat out awful. This will not hurt the Spurs.

True but still surprising I guess. It's just really late to be waiving people.

Last year of his contract wants playing time for his last payday, Pop has other ideas and couldn't care less about Jax selfish demands so he gets cut.

It must have been getting REALLY bad for this to happen. I expect fully for Jackson to be a Laker with Artest next season. Kobe and the nut-house.

Re: San Antonio waives Stephen Jackson
Man, you would think jack and pop would work something out if it can to waiving him right before the playoffs.
I understand pops view, he doesn't want the conflict to be a distraction in the playoffs, but I thought jack got along well with the players, that's a moral killer.
At the same time
Jax is a old vet, not some young player, both he and pop should've found a compromise, since cutting him from the playoffs, even if he would play garbage time, is kinda sad. He's no young player.
I think pop is at the age where he just won't take **** from no one, not stern or captain jack lol.

Re: San Antonio waives Stephen Jackson
The Spurs believe are a better team without him going into the playoffs. He hasn't shown anything this season, I mean, he is a guy who comes with baggage and we don't know what goes behind the closed doors. In this day and age where there is always some rumors about backtalk or what not... it is surprising that this came out of nowhere. Fact is that he isn't going to make or break the Spurs season and post season... it is their overall health.

The Spurs have a zero tolerance policy for player character. Which is why I thought it was strange that they signed him in the first place. But much respect to them for holding to their standards.

Jeff McDonald @JMcDonald_SAEN Pop did not bite on question of whether Jack had been disgruntled. Said only dismissal "what's best for the team."

Jeff McDonald Jeff McDonald @JMcDonald_SAEN 5mPop called Jack decision "a basketball decision and a family decision." Said Jack handled news in a "classy" manner.

Re: San Antonio waives Stephen Jackson
Jack probably just said some stupid things over the past few days to pop, and pop decided not to take it.
I doubt Jackson would've mattered mug this year in the playoffs, but to waive him after agreeing to move forward at the trade deadline is kinda cold.
I think pop was just done, he didn't want any bs, Pop is quitting in a year or two anyways. He's need to take **** from anyone now haha.
Jack got the wrong end of that stick, but it's cause of his big mouth.
