This stereotype has got to go, East Asians are some of the quickest and fastest people on the planet. The world junior 100 meter champion is a kid from Japan, also there are many sub 10.2 100 sprinters in China and Japan much morso than many Euro and caribbean countries with exception of Jamaica and the US. Perception is just a false stereotype, Lin doesnt have 'deceptive' speed, he's just plain flat out fast.

As Kevin Pelton would say, if that is your only example...then they are probably not that fast.

Let's see.

Bledsoe, Calderon, Conley, Curry, Chalmers, Dragic, Hill, Holiday, Jack, Irving, Lawson, Lillard, Andre Miller, Nash, Parker, Paul, Rondo, Rose, Rubio, Wall, Westbrook, Williams.

In my opinion, these players are way better than Lin.

There are also some players that are on the same level with Lin such as; Kemba Walker, Mo Williams, Vasquez, Jeff Teague, Stuckey, Nate Robinson, Prigioni, Nelson, Lowry, Reggie Jackson, Jennings, Harris, Felton etc etc. I can't say Lin is better these players as well. They are just equal. So I have no clue how people put Jeremy Lin within top 20 PGs.

are you out of your mind? he can't shoot like rio, why would miami start someone at the one that's not a floor spacer?

Lin is way better then Chalmers. Norris Cole outplayed Chalmers for most the playoffs. Lin and Cole are both aren't "good" shooters. The idea that the Heat always need a shooting "1" on the court is BS as Chalmers didn't play down the stretch every game and they did just fine. The Heat just need a rebounder and 1 shooter on the floor at one time to be good.

This was one of there best lineups

Cole
Miller
LeBron
Battier
Birdman

- thanks for letting me know that you haven't watched the heat at all in the playoffs.
- norris cole played 7 mins in game 5 and didn't touch the court in games 6 and 7 of the finals. chalmers played 40+ in the last two games.
- when chalmers wasn't playing at the end of some games, it was big 3 + ray allen and shane battier, i.e. SHOOTERS.

Cole didn't sit because of his offense. They sat him because Parker was piledriving right through him to the lane every possession. Cole has been a great defender all year, but he couldn't stop Parker at all.

That is a weird list.

I really hate rankings and I am not a huge fan of Lin, but I think 15-20 is a reasonable ranking for starting PGs in the NBA.

I dunno about all asian dudes, but there do seem to be a fair number of asian athletes with good speed. For example, look at Ichiro Suzuki.

The different between most of those guys and Lin though is that Lin is 6'3" and 200 lbs.

I don't get this point? you mean compared to other point guards? Because he's actually pretty tall compared to alot of other pg's he's a legit 6'3" and that usually makes what you do look faster if you're taller.

Like LeBron is super-fast but he looks even faster because of his size.

I disagree. I think smaller guys tend to appear faster, even if they are running the same speed as a guy LeBron's size.

He may be faster, but that's about it. If you don't utilize your skill properly or able to utilize it you got nothing. Lin can't dribble/handle the ball as well as Irving, so who you rather have.

There is so much more to it than being able to react this fast/have this top speed/...

I'm sure there are a lot of fast or strong role/bench players in the NBA who lack a lot of things which is why they aren't the best.

Daryl Morey also said Lin was the most explosive accelerating athlete on the team, which includes his first step. But, I don't recall the praise about his agility though.

I think it's fair that people are saying that he still has flaw to his games, which he himself said several times that he needs to work on. There are a lot of fast players in the NBA as well, but what matters is what you can do with that speed.

Marcus Banks is one of those players that comes to mind....he had speed, strength, but couldn't stay consistent in the league. Other guys off the bench include Jerryd Bayless, Patty Mills, or basically a lot of guards since the game has transitioned to more small ball.

Lin may be fast, but he's not particularly fast with the ball. If you want to see elite speed, watch this:

Wow. This is the worst player assessment on this board I have ever seen. I honestly don't think I'd be able to tell the difference between your top list of "way better" PGs and a list of PGs chosen by random number generator.
