tbh, the Spurs gave us the hardest fight of all teams in the post season... and they were the only team from the western conference we faced in the playoffs.

during the regular season we struggled against the Grizzlies, the Clippers and the Warriors.
funny thing is, they all played in the West.

I think the Blazers even beat Miami last season.

Yes, and that conference pride comes from having to play a much tougher schedule, which breeds resentment towards the teams playing Candyland in the Eastern Conference.

No one is arguing w/ Miami being the best team. This is more about the overall quality/depth of the respective conferences.

Which is ironically the same record as the Spurs vs. the east. These are the top teams. No one is questioning whether or not the Heat or Pacers are elite team, or whether or not a healthy Bulls team could hang in the West.

Oh please. The only reason the east play "good defense" is because other eastern conference teams can't play offense.

Rockets, a fast paced team that most feel plays no defense, in PPG allowed
vs. East: 97.1
vs. West: 106.5

Bulls, a slow paced team that most people feel play incredible defense, in PPG allowed
vs. East: 90.4
vs. West 101.5

Think the eastern/western conference beef is legit. It's like if I were an SEC fan, I'd be ticked that Ohio State is in the drivers' seat to go to a national championship game playing in a considerably weaker conference

I say good on Portland. The Eastern Conference has always been weak and injury-plagued, and now it's just getting weaker.

The league needs the internal critique.

Look at the disparity! It bugs me that that Miami and Indiana have a cakewalk to the Conference Finals where they will eventually play each other, while the west is a complete dogfight and teams that I would personally enjoy watching in the playoffs won't even make the 8th seed, despite having a better record than a 4th or even 3rd seeded Eastern Conference team.
